NEW YORK (Reuters) - Madonna's brother Christopher Ciccone says the singer would "do her best to maintain" her marriage to British director Guy Ritchie and that he doubts she had an affair with Yankee baseball player Alex Rodriguez. Madonna and Ritchie have been plagued by persistent tabloid rumors that their marriage is to end, prompting the singer to release a statement saying she is not planning to divorce her husband and denying an affair with Rodriguez. Ciccone, who says he has had little to do with his sister since she married Ritchie in December 2000, has written a memoir called "Life with my sister Madonna," which will be published by Simon Spotlight Entertainment on Tuesday.
