For the last few months, Gwyneth Paltrow has been in Nashville while filming her role in Love Don't Let Me Down. And as she shares in her lastest GOOP newsletter, she's fallen in love with everything about the city: its people, music venues, and even its fried chicken! Most of what I've heard about Gwyneth's lifestyle strikes me as being uber-healthy - she's gone raw before, meditates, and always seems to be detoxing or on a cleanse. It was actually kind of refreshing to hear that while in Nashville she sampled Southern classics like fried chicken, collard greens, and sweet potato fries - foods she called "a traditional Southern attack."

Since I eat healthy while at home, I do give myself freedom to try new foods when on vacation - especially if it's a local dish that can't be missed. How about you . . .

This is the time of year when the Travel Bug hits. Planning the Annual summer getaways are in full force. We all knowing the state of the economy, going on a vacation is a sacrifice let alone having to shop for it. Here are some tips to get the Vacation Worthy Wardrobe.

Take inventory of what you already have

Going through your closet and making an assessment of what stays and what goes is a great place for a foundation. You never want to duplicate purchase the same item or style. With doing this you can see what your important items are to purchase.

Make a Shopping List

After knowing what you are going to keep and get rid of, it's time to shop. Creating a list will put in front of you what needs to be bought. This can prevent you from making a impulse buy. Knowing what you need can keep you in focus of your shopping goal and keep from overspending.

Pack Smart

Now that you have all your items for your trip, it's time to make sure you pack smart. Now that airlines are restricting the amount of on-board luggage per passenger, pack accordingly. I know as women we would love to pack our whole summer wardrobe, it's not possible. Again, make a list of items that are essentials for your vacation and after those are packed, you can start with the special extras. (As I like to call them the "just in case" items).

vacation without me...

Some background: I've been with my bf for a year now. we went to college together and he had a huge crush on me that i never knew about. we ran into each other at a party a year ago and he made such an effort to get together and won me over - very cute. only, he really didn't know what to do once he finally did "get" me - - it was like he was clueless about how to behave in a mature relationship which was what i expect a relationship to be at this point in my life (not into playing games or hiding feelings or acting like we're in high school). so when we first got together things were really rocky - he's a year younger than I am (he's 25, i'm 26) and he'd never been in a serious relationship before at all. he's made leaps and bounds of progress, though it was hard to bear with his growing pains. We've been really happy for a while now and he just moved in with me (not sure if it's temporary or not, we're leaving that door open). one of the problems we have in general is that he needs a lot more space than i do - his mom was not very affectionate and he is totally unused to being emotional or physically affectionate or emotionally close. he's become a lot better at it, but it's still an issue for me sometimes as my family was VERY emotional and affectionate and my parents told me they loved me multiple times a day and were always giving me hugs, etc. so we're still learning abut how to bridge the gap in what I need vs. what he needs in this arena. But we're always working on things.

okay which brings me to the issue at hand. his uncle is dying of cancer, and he's really sad and is spending a lot more time focused on family - - something I am really happy about because i know its important to him. he brought me home for xmas, and he brought me home for easter. he's going home for memorial day alone because he just wants to spend some solo time with his family. Not a big deal to me. However last night he mentioned that his uncle is getting even worse and it's looking like there will be even less time left for him then they thought. thus, his rather large extended family wants to take a trip to Italy on the request of his uncle. and when he told me this, he said he just wanted to let me know that it looked like that was how he was going to be taking his vacation time this year (as opposed to going on a trip with me) and that it was going to be a "family thing" which was basically code for he's planning on going alone. The plans are not made, and nothing is set in stone, and at first I was totally cool with that and understood that this was important time for him to be spending with his family. but then i was confused as to why he didn't want me to go along with them. we're living together, and he's been very open about the fact that he wants to be together in the long term- marriage, babies, etc. i have no doubts that he actually feels that way, and i know he's in this for the long haul. so what's with wanting to go on this family vacation without me? I'm not sure how to bring it up in a non-confrontational way because I don't want to insist he bring me along if he really wants to go alone... but i'm feeling kinda sad about it and wish he wanted me there with him. he has a big family and a lot of cousins that he is close with and enjoys hanging out with... and i mean, if i was on this vacation i would want attention from him of course and I can understand that he wants to focus on family during this time... but again, i'm feeling kind of hurt he doesn't want me there. should i bring this up, or just let it go? is it sh*tty of him to want to go on the vacation without me? is it unreasonable that i'm feeling hurt about it?

any advice much appreciated...

Whether you choose to cuddle up on a gondola ride in Venice, snuggle under a blanket on a caleche ride in Quebec City, dance cheek-to-cheek in Buenos Aires, spend long days canoodling on spectacular islands like Bora Bora, Santorini, and Nevis, cruise magical Halong Bay, or discover breathtaking Dubrovnik together, you're bound to feel a renewed (or new) sense of intimacy with your partner.

Of course, no list of this sort would be complete without a nod to Paris, the epitome of romantic cities (and site of countless marriage proposals), but dear Santa Barbara, closer to home, is just as ripe for a tryst, with countless spas and vineyards in the vicinty sure to help you and yours relax – and lose your inhibitions.

1. Buenos Aires
As the old saying goes, it takes two to tango – and there’s no better place to practice your moves with your partner than Buenos Aires, the birthplace of this incredibly sexy dance. Watching expert tango dancers spin around the dance floor at one of the local venues here is already hot stuff – women dress the part in fishnet stockings, heels, and high-slit dresses, while men doff tailored suits and cravats – but taking to the floor with your honey can make the temperature go higher still.

Play the voyeur at neighborhood spots like Bar Sur , or, put on your dancing shoes and trot your stuff at Centro Cultural Torquato Tasso, which also offers lessons for first-timers. When you need to rest your feet, this Paris of South America has a lot more to tempt visiting lovebirds, from elegant turn-of-the-century mansions and tree-lined boulevards reminiscent of European cities like Paris, Rome, and Barcelona, to cozy bistros in trendy neighborhoods where diners linger over long meals.

Plus, with the peso so low nowadays, this city that used to rival Manhattan in terms of price has actually become extremely affordable.

2. Bora Bora
If there’s one destination to blow your savings on in the name of love, this tiny, pricey South Pacific island is it. Novelist James A. Michener described Bora Bora as, “the most beautiful island in the world” and visitors to its far-flung shores rarely disagree.

So small that the island road is a mere 19 miles long, this Polynesian idyll sits 143 miles northwest of Tahiti and boasts the best that nature can offer: a high- mountain center cloaked in jungle, a superb cobalt lagoon, a splendid coral reef, and pristine stretches of bone-white sand dotted with fallen coconut husks.

When you’re not discovering the many bounties of this island paradise, hang out at the local watering hole, Bloody Mary's, where Pierce Brosnan has been known to woo his leading lady, or send off the sun with a sunset catamaran cruise. Come nightfall, few can resist bedding down at a lavishly appointed over-the-water bungalow.

3. Dubrovnik
Couples in search of romance are flocking to this wondrous city on the southernmost stretch of Croatia’s coast, as enchanted by its beauty today as the Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw, who once proclaimed, "If you want to see heaven on earth, come to Dubrovnik."

The city has been magnificently restored to its former glory to emerge as one of the most fashionable vacation spots in all of Europe. Dubrovnik's resurgent popularity should come as no surprise, however – this “jewel of the Adriatic,” as the coastal resort town is often referred to in tourist brochures, is breathtakingly beautiful and a magnet for dreamy-eyed lovers in search of romantic inspiration.

The city's fortified old town overlooks the dazzling Adriatic from a shelter of limestone cliffs and its marble-paved streets are lined with marvelously preserved churches, stately palaces, squares, and terracotta-roofed townhouses. Meanwhile, down below, along the seaside coast, fine beaches beckon – as do a slew of offshore islands – making Dubrovnik uniquely appealing to just about any taste.

4. Halong Bay, Vietnam
Now that you’ve found your knight in shining armor, put his dragon-slaying skills to the test in this ancient dragon’s lair near the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi. Indeed, “Ha Long” means "where the dragon descends into the sea" and, once you're sailing the enchanting emerald-green waters here, you'll easily understand why the bay is believed to have been formed by the thrashing of a dragon's tail.

It’s a sight that confirms Vietnam’s status as one of the most romantic countries in Asia; undoubtedly the country’s most mesmerizing natural setting, this UNESCO-protected area is dotted with grottoes, some 3,000 limestone islets (only one of which is inhabited), and often shrouded in mist, which only adds to its mystique. While day trips are available, we strongly recommend booking an overnight cruise to experience the bay's phenomenal sunset and sunrise, as well as more of its splendid landscapes.

5. Nevis
If you’re craving a Caribbean getaway that’s just as high on romance as it is on R & R, look no further than darling Nevis (pronounced NEE-vis), the sister island of St. Kitts. Nowadays, cocooning lovers can hole up in converted plantation houses – rather than sterile high-rise beach resorts – where atmospheric verandahs, louvered windows, and four-poster beds guarantee your hours, if not days, will be spent canoodling. Should you deign to leave your room, the island’s scenery is equally entrancing: disused stone sugar mills are now overgrown with vines, lush island paths invite hiking and horseback riding, and sugarcane fields lead to remarkable restaurants serving fine Creole fare.

Add in the fact that Nevis is still relatively difficult to get to (you have to change planes in Antigua, St. Maarten, or Puerto Rico), and you’ll be looking at spending serious quality time with your sweetie – without having to share him or her with other vacationing sun worshipers.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Wants To Give Austrian Woman A Hollywood Vacation

Remember the crazy story about Elisabeth Fritzl being locked in a basement and held prisoner by her dad who fathered 6 of her children and kept them locked up as well? They were held captive for 24 years, but Arnold Schwarzenegger now wants to get them out and seeing the world.

He plans to offer Elisabeth and her kids an all expenses paid vacation to California. A source close to Aahhhnald says,

"He’s absolutely determined to do something for this family. These children have been prisoners all their lives. Can you imagine how they’d react to Disneyland or a trip to Universal Studios?"

Arnold could also help the family broker a movie deal that will leave them financially set for life.

"Without doubt, he can make sure they meet all the right movers and shakers. But the main thing is to help them enjoy their freedom by giving them the trip of a lifetime. He will pay for it privately and Elisabeth and her children will be personal guests."

I don't think a million trips to Disney could even begin to undo any of the psychological damage done to this woman, but it is nice that Arnold wants to help someone from his native country.

Hugh Grant & Elizabeth Hurley win cash payout over vacation pictures

Hugh Grant and his ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley have won $116,000 in damages for invasion of privacy, after they were photographed on holiday in a private resort in the Maldives.

Grant, model Hurley and her businessman husband Arun Nayar filed suit against photo agencies Big Pictures Limited and Eliot Press SARL last year, when snaps of the trio on vacation were published in a number of British newspapers.

Laura Tyler, the lawyer representing Grant, Hurley and Nayar, appeared at London’s High Court on Thursday morning, when she told Mr Justice Eady that the pictures had been taken covertly and without her clients’ knowledge. She also argued that the claimants had chosen the resort because it offered them complete privacy and seclusion.

She told the court: “It has been most upsetting for the claimants to have their privacy invaded by these defendants.”

The photos were later printed in the News of the World and The Mail on Sunday newspapers, as well as a number of celebrity magazines.

In addition to the cash for damages, the claimants will receive some money towards their legal costs from the two photo agencies, and agency bosses apologised for any distress their actions may have caused.

Further contributions will also be made by the News of the World’s publisher News Group Newspapers, and Associated Newspapers, which prints The Mail on Sunday.
