When the market drops, you stick to something that never goes out of style: classic glamour. Between Roberto Cavalli, Chloe, and now Lanvin, you could tell that right now, things aren't exactly at their best when it comes to retail. Never the less, all of these campaigns are something I almost wished I saw more from designers.

The simplistic and refined collection Jil Sander showed for fall has met it's photographic match: this ad. Ditching Lara Stone and keeping Natasha Poly for this was a smart move- more models- or anything else, for that matter would have thrown off this compltely. Looking at this now, it reminds me of what ad campaigns are really supposed to do: reflect the clothes in a positive, but accurate light.

Advertising from the '60s has a bad rap for always being targeted to men. Mad Men proved this last Sunday when Peggy says a beautiful woman throwing herself at a camera is not going to sell diet soda to its audience — women. Don replies, you know how this works: men want her, so women want to be her.

Stella McCartney's ad campaign took a look at the more interesting side of the campaigns that have recently surfaced. This was the photographic work of Ryan McGinley behind the camera for the spring campaigns, and he used a watercolor infused background inspired by a Puerto Rican beach featuring Kate Moss and Angela Lindvall, topping it off with obvious, but not showy display of the designer's name across the center.

The bit at the end of the ad with the clown is my fave. I love it when the baby says " I really underestimated the creepiness..."
