Mariah Carey has set an April 1 release date for the follow-up to her mega-selling album "The Emancipation of Mimi," which was the biggest selling album of 2005. Dubbed "That Chick," the set features production from Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am and Rodney Jerkins, plus collaborations with the likes of T-Pain and Damian Marley.

Tim McGraw apologized to fans Tuesday for his latest greatest hits album, saying his label should have instead released a record with new music.
"I am saddened and disappointed that my label chose to put out another hits album instead of new music," says the country singer. "I've only had one studio album since my last hits package.

Chris Martin has walked out of an interview with BBC Radio 4 in discomfort at being questioned about Coldplay’s new album.
The frontman was being interviewed for the station’s art programme Front Row when he asked to leave the studio after nine minutes of discussion.
Will Champion, the four-piece’s drummer, was left alone in the studio to answer the questions of interviewer John Wilson until his bandmate returned to stammer an answer to the final question.

As usual, Music Row is preparing to unleash a torrent of superstar albums over the next three months to fuel the holiday-shopping frenzy. Among the sparkling new offerings are Rascal Flatts' first greatest hits package, Brad Paisley's first instrumental CD, Alabama crooner Randy Owen's first solo outing and Lee Ann Womack's first studio album in three years.
This month has already seen the release of Jessica Simpson's country debut project, Do You Know (Epic/Columbia Nashville), which will debut at No.

Former Guns N’ Roses and current Velvet Revolver guitarist, Slash, is working on a solo album along the lines of Carlos Santana’s recent work. Slash, who has worked as a guest guitarist with many well known singers, is now calling on them to come work with him on his album.
Slash is expected to be recording a new Velvet Revolver CD in 2009, but unless a singer is found to replace Scott Weiland, that won’t be happening.

Britney Spears' new album, the unfortunately titled "Blackout," is all over the Internet.
The surprise uploading of new tracks by the embattled pop tartlet/wayward mom has caused Jive Records to move up the release date from Nov. 13 to Oct.

Her first album didn't garner much acclaim, but Scarlett Johansson is planning on making a second album. Her first album, which was released a couple of months ago, was a collection of Tom Waitt's cover songs called Anywhere I Lay My Head.

Jay-Z’s album sales have experienced a near five-fold boost after his triumphant Glastonbury performance, it has been confirmed.
The rapper’s appearance on the Pyramid Stage at the legendary Somerset festival had provoked much controversy, with many critics citing his booking as the reason for slower ticket sales for this year’s event while Oasis’ Noel Gallagher said a hip-hop artist performing was “wrong”.
But having wowed the Glastonbury crowds on Saturday night - including a tongue-in-cheek cover of Gallagher’s Wonderwall - sales of Jay-Z’s The Black Album have increased by some 480 per cent during and after the festival.
