Best Animated Short Film
I was so glad to see the shorts again this year. It makes the ceremony so much more interesting when I know everything I can about all the nominees. Interesting fact about all the animated selections this year- there’s not a single word of dialogue amongst them.

This weekend I had the pleasure of seeing both the live action and animated nominated shorts. I was lucky enough to have a theater nearby that was screening each set. It truly was a treat as this was the first year I've ever seen the shorts and it's nice to go into the Oscars knowing as much as you can about each nominee.

First of all, Kristen Stewart showed up to the event sporting some short hair in an all-black ensemble. The actress was adamant in continuing to deny any rumors of a real-life romance with Robert Pattinson.Stewart seemed upbeat when she addressed the audience and announced, "The whole rumor, tabloid stuff, it's so obviously false." This goes along with the story that I posted in 4.0 about Meatless Mondays in Baltimore schools Jon Stewart ended an interview with climate-change contrarian and Super Freakonomics co-author Steven Levitt on Monday night by noting, "I've apparently frightened our audience by suggesting that conservation isn't the only way out of any of the problems of the world. In August, National Public Radio's flagship music program All Songs Considered published "The Best Music of 2009 (So Far)," a rundown of the top 30 songs and albums of the year-to-date as voted by the show's listeners.
The results of the survey suggest that the All Songs Considered audience has a fuzzy understanding of the word "all." "The Best Music of 2009 (So Far)" consists almost entirely of indie-rockers: acts like The Decemberists, Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Neko Case, Andrew Bird, Regina Spektor, and Animal Collective, the Brooklyn art-rock group that took the top spot in both the best songs and best albums tallies.
