It's harvest time for apples and pears, and nothing says Autumn like warm crisp featuring both Fall fruits. Here is a variation of a recipe from RecipeZaar. I substituted a few things like Sucanat for brown sugar, whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour, and Earth Balance margarine in place of butter.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because I love all the warm, savory dishes. This one has been in my family for years and it's sweet, creamy, and has a crunchy topping that reminds me of homemade mac and cheese. It's easy to prepare ahead of time, and is a great alternative to mashed potatoes or stuffing.

Yesterday I made mom some of these delicious Apple Fritters.
She loved them just as much as I did and it was the very first time I have ever made them!
Their like an apple version of french toast, but better.

I threw together this recipe when I was craving for an apple pie but also wanted cake. The apple filling starts out on top but sinks to the bottom while it is baking. Super yummy!

Recently, I've had apples on the brain. 'Tis the season, after all. And when I was flipping through one of my Kraft Food magazines today, I came across this recipe and had to share it.

I made Yum's insanely good mac 'n' cheese recipe in some ramekins my mother in law gave me for creme brulee. The little tart-size dishes made the meal extra cute, and I substituted bacon for walnuts for extra yumminess. The combo of sharp gorgonzola, crisp apples and rich bacon was so good, literally one of the most delish things I've ever tasted, and I never would have thought of it on my own.

I've had a hankerin' for some homemade apple butter, this being apple season and all, and I heard you could make it in a crockpot. I've been checking out a lot of recipes and I like the one below. I decided on this one from cooks.com because (1) it uses apples (some recipes call for applesauce); (2) it cooks for a good long, slow time; and (3) you add the sugar after you know exactly how much apple pulp you are going to have.
