Good news for our friends over at VERSUS Cable Television as the Detroit Red Wings' victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup finals opener was the highest-rated and most-watched cable telecast of the championship round in six years.
Wings celebrate
The Red Wings' 4-0 win on Saturday night had a 1.8 national rating -- drawing over 2.3 million viewers. The rating was the highest for an NHL game on Versus, topping the audience that watched the Penguins' Game 2 victory over Philadelphia in this year's Eastern Conference finals.

Quickly, here is the VERSUS cable television Stanley Cup Finals photo of the day from Saturday's game in which the Detroit Red Wings stunned the Pittsburgh crowd with a 2-1 victory. One step closer and facing the toughest game to win, the fourth one to give them the right to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup.
Before I forget, once again, I'd personally like to thank our friends at VERSUS for recognizing our group and for providing some really nice hockey swag!

Whew, wasn't the game last night fantastic? Not only because the Pittsburgh Penguins overcame their scoring drought, but the game was as EXCITING as ALL fans had expected of this series. It was end-to-end action and so much fun to watch.

After a well contested first period that was closely battled in Game 1 of the 2008 Stanley Cup finals, the final two periods were dominated by the Detroit Red Wings. Wings goaltender, Chris Osgood, got his 12th career postseason shutout, barely breaking a sweat as he faced 19 shots the entire game. The Wings shutout the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0.

Like the Detroit Red Wings, the Pittsburgh Penguins are dominating play. Last night's victory over the Philadelphia Flyers illustrates that the Penguins, like the Red Wings are on a roll than is not likely to stop anytime soon. Both teams continue to gain confidence with each victory and seem poised to face-off in this year's 2008 Stanley Cup Finals.

Fort Hood Massacre: A Day of Courage and Cowardice
A self-described "devout Muslim" who praised suicide bombers opens fire on brave American soldiers — and most people in the mainstream media insist there is no sign of terror.
November 6, 2009 - by Bruce Bawer
The brave soldiers who were massacred at Fort Hood had trained to fight the jihadist enemy abroad. But they seem to have ended up being murdered by the same enemy on American soil, in a place where they thought they were safe — murdered, apparently, because a series of military and medical officials recognized what was going on with this major and chose to do nothing about it.
