For health-care opponents getting a busy signal when calling the capitol, Rep. Pete Hoekstra has a message for you: All politics is local, so swamp the phone lines of the state legislators too. “If the people in Washington aren’t willing to listen, if the Democrats aren’t willing to listen, then call your local state elected officials and tell them that you’ll hold them personally accountable to what Nancy Pelosi is going to do the American people in Washington this week,” Hoekstra told The Daily Caller of his “Make it Local” idea. Hoekstra has taken to Twitter with a number of Make it Local messages, claiming that lines are jammed in part because some Democrats have taken their phones off the hook. The busy signals have also been attributed to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who earlier this week gave out the capitol switchboard phone number over the airwaves, encouraging listeners to call in. In one tweet, Hoekstra wrote, “Switchboards clogged or turned off in DC. Problem? NO Opportunity! Call every state elected D and tell them how furious you are!” In another, he tweets, “MAKE IT LOCAL. Call D state reps and state senators. Hold them accountable for what Pelosi is doing. People loving this idea! Make it work!” Hoekstra said he and other Washington lawmakers devised the idea. “I was talking to all the other members, we’re taking a look at everything we can do to try to influence this debate and we thought we had kinda run out of ideas,” he explained. “And we started hearing that Democrats were starting to take their phones off the hook and no longer taking constituent phone calls and we said ‘you know, where else can they call?’” A number of Tea Party groups are encouraging their activists to go the local route too. In an e-mail to supporters last night, Tea Party Patriots encouraged those who oppose the bill to call and visit the local district offices of the targeted members of Congress. They also pushed activists to call state elected officials to “remind them that they have political influence and you want them to exercise it.” It’s something Hoekstra said is an effective means of putting pressure on Democrats. “There’s no doubt that if my state reps’ phones started ringing off the hook on a federal issue they would call me and want me to know, and say, ‘Hey Pete, you know the people in Michigan are really feeling passionate about this.’” Hoekstra, who is running for governor, flew into West Michigan for a campaign swing on Thursday and plans to be in Detroit on Friday, though said he’s prepared to fly back to Washington for the vote if called this weekend. I Served My Vegetarian Friends a Dish That I Made With Chicken Broth!

The other night I had a cocktail party and I was making a dish that I planned on serving to a bunch of vegetarians and pescaterians. I was in the middle of the recipe when I realized that it called for vegetable broth. Normally I keep my pantry stocked with beef, chicken, and vegetable broth, but when I went to grab the veggie broth all I could find was beef and chicken! Since the recipe called for it at that moment, I did not have time to stop the dish in the middle of cooking, go to the store, and buy vegetable broth. Before I even realized what I was doing I added the chicken broth. Later, at the party, I told everyone it was vegetarian friendly. I feel HORRIBLE about this, but I was in a pinch. Can I be forgiven?

Actually, Joe set himself up. From the moment he set foot on Israeli soil, our vice president was in full pander mode.

First, he headed to Yad Vashem memorial, where he put on a yarmulke and declared Israel "a central bolt in our existence."

"For world Jewry," Joe went on, presumably including 5 million Americans, "Israel is the heart. ... Israel is the light. ... Israel is the hope."

Meeting Shimon Peres the next day, Joe confessed that when he first visited at age 29, "Israel captured my heart."

In Peres' guestbook, he wrote, "The bond between our two nations has been and remains unshakeable."

As Peres spoke, Biden took notes. When Peres called him "a friend," Joe gushed, "It's good to be home."

Walking around the corner to Prime Minister Netanyahu's office, Joe called him by his nickname, "Bibi," declared him a "real" friend and said the U.S. relationship with Israel "has been and will continue to be the centerpiece of our policy."

Interior Minister Eli Yishai announced construction of 1,600 new apartment units in Arab East Jerusalem. Stunned and humiliated, Biden issued a statement saying he "condemned" the decision.

Netanyahu has apologized for the timing, but they are going ahead with the apartments. What are the Americans going to do about it? At this point, nothing but bluster.

On his departure for Jordan, Ha'aretz reported that Israel plans to build 50,000 new homes in East Jerusalem over the next few years.

Consider also the most remarkable statement of Biden's first 24 hours.

Biden is saying we are a more effective force for Mideast peace in a region where Arabs outnumber Israelis 50 to one if everyone knows we sing from the same song sheet as Israel and have no policy independent of Israel's.

Even with the closest ally in our history, Britain in World War II, there was space between Winston Churchill and FDR on where to invade -- North Africa, Italy, France, the Balkans? -- whether to beat Stalin to Berlin, Prague and Vienna, who should be supreme allied commander, even whether the British Empire should survive.

Ehud Olmert did not consult President-elect Obama on whether to launch a war on Gaza and kill 1,400 Palestinians. Nor did Netanyahu consult us before Mossad took down the Hamas minister in Dubai.

If they are, we will end up with all of Israel's enemies, who are legion, and only Israel's friends, who are few.

Celebrity Trainer Harley Pasternak Dishes About Food

Harley Pasternak says that if you follow his 5 Factor diet, you will see results. First, eat five times a day: two meals and three snacks. Next, everything you eat should have five components: lean protein, low glycemic carbs, healthy fats, fiber, and a sugar-free beverage. And to keep it real, there's a cheat day once a week.

The in-demand trainer recently came out with a new book - the 5 Factor World Diet - that draws on lessons learned from constant travel. Harley selected 10 countries with the lowest obesity rates and highest life expectancies and studied what they eat, how they eat, and how they burn it off. Although busy bopping between clients, Harley took some time out of his day to talk all things food: what you should be eating, why fresh food isn't always better, and yes, even he has a cheat food.

FitSugar: Your latest book, The 5 Factor World Diet, is based on the insights you’ve gained while traveling. What are some healthy eating tips you’ve picked up from other countries?
Harley Pasternak: I saw a lot of fish - not beef - in the healthiest countries, and whole grains, vegetable, and whole soy - especially in Okinawa where everyone is 100 years old. In Sweden, sandwiches are made with one piece of bread, not two - it’s always always an open-faced sandwich. Physical activity is very much tied to meals too. In Italy they have something called a "pasa giatta," and when the meal ends they all get up and go for a walk together. And in other parts of the world they go grocery shopping every day, so you’re basically burning off half the meal to pick up ingredients, and when you’re preparing your food, you have more control over what you put into it.

FS: What advice do you have for people who can’t walk to pick up fresh food because the nearest market is 30 miles away?
HP: I’m a big fan of frozen food and canned food. I know that’s not what we’re used to hearing but frozen and canned food can be as healthy, if not healthier than fresh counterpart options. Fresh produce is not the end-all be-all - when I make smoothies I almost always use frozen fruits, and when I make soups I often use frozen vegetables. You can use canned beans and frozen vegetables for dips as well. Also, don’t be afraid of canned fish, canned salmon, canned tuna, and frozen seafood like shrimp cocktail. It’s another great way to get seafood into your diet, if you can't get fresh.

FS: What are some of your favorite meals from the 5 Factor World Diet?
HP: Gosh, there are so many. As I wrote the World Diet book, I was looking abroad for some good fiber recipes and fell in love with Japanese food like soba noodles. I also love the idea of ceviche. Going to Spain and learning to make ceviche was great. It's absolutely foolproof, even for someone who has no idea how to cook.

FS: What about snacks - especially when you’re on the go?
HP: Snacks - as should a meal - [should] have a lowfat protein and a fibrous carbohydrate. I tell my clients to grab some plain nonfat Greek yogurt and some frozen berries and mix that together. Soy snacks are great too: edamame, Soy Joy bars, and soy milk are all great. I often make a dip out of nonfat Greek yogurt and natural peanut butter for protein and calcium. It’s 1:2 ratio of peanut butter to yogurt and it’s delicious with apples or pears.

FS: Now that you’ve brought up fruit, one of our readers wants to know why there are no grapes or bananas on the 5-Factor Diet?
HP: No one is going to live a shorter life if they have bananas or grapes, however there are much, much healthier fruits. I try and tell my clients to choose those fruits over others. I tell my clients to stick to fruits that either have edible skin, edible seeds, or citrus - bananas do not have edible skin, nor do they have edible seeds really, nor is it citrus. Most of the fiber and nutrients that are in a fruit are in a fruit’s skin. A banana is just the densest piece of fruit that you can put in your body, and since it doesn’t have fiber, it won’t keep you full. It’s kind of a shame to have a fruit with no fiber.

Grapes are an exception to the rule because they have a special sugar in them called dextrose, which is the highest glycemic sugar that you can possibly put in your body. They actually make grape pills for diabetics so that they don’t become low.

FS: Are there any foods that you think people should avoid, even on their cheat days?
HP: Absolutely no, not at all. Life is short and you have to enjoy it, and you should indulge when it’s time to indulge. At some point, I think everyone should eat everything at least once.

FS: And what’s your cheat food?
HP: My cheat food? That’s easy, it’s chocolate chip cookies. I’m the biggest chocolate chip cookie freak in the world.

FS: And do you give yourself some cookies every week?
HP: At least every week.

Kelly Ripa may not have legally taken her husband's name, but she now has it permanently inked on her body. During "Live! with Regis and Kelly" on Feb. 24, the talk show host showed off the new ink on her left wrist that bears her husband Mark Consuelos' last name in cursive writing. Ripa, who already sports a rose and heart tattoo on her left ankle, got inked at Saved Tattoo in Brooklyn, according to The Huffington Post.

Leona Lewis is rapidly shedding her good girl image, and a tattoo is clearly a step in the bad girl direction. The British songstress and "X-Factor" winner debuted a tribute to her favorite animal, the horse, inked down her spine at a charity fundraiser in mid February. The tat, which runs from the back of her neck to the middle of her back reads, "Their beauty captures every eye, a gift from God for all mankind, they lend us wings so we may fly, to ride a horse is to ride the sky."

There's no question about it - Lady Gaga loves her fans. Pamela Anderson isn't exactly the epitome of grace and class -- but we love that about her. So when she showed off her down-to-there decorative back tattoo while wearing just a pink sheet at New Zealand Fashion Week, we probably shouldn't have been surprised.

Anyone who's glanced at the Internet in, oh, the last several years knows that Lindsay Lohan is obsessed with Marilyn Monroe. In fact, in a now infamous photo shoot, Linsday aped the movie goddess' famous last session with photographer Bert Stern. After Lindsay's break-up with Samantha Ronson in April, she put her love for Marilyn in writing, on the tender inside of her wrist - because that would obviously cheer her up. The sentiment, however, is a happy one, reportedly a quote from Ms. Monroe herself: "Everyone's a star and deserves the right to twinkle." She recently followed up with another tattoo, with a more somber - but still positive! - Monroe quote: "I restore myself when I'm alone." Both are surrounded with little multi-colored stars, like the kind you used to doodle in your high school math notebook. At least Lindsay is not naive enough to think Marilyn's life was all rosy. Lindsay called her a "prime example of what this industry can do to someone."We can very easily think of another one.

Katy Perry debuted her new strawberry tattoo on Twitter, tweeting, "my new little friend... what shall be her name?! :)"

Legendary tattoo artist Mario Barth, CEO of Starlight Tattoo, works on Sylvester Stallone. Barth has won 200 international awards in tattooing including "Tattoo Artist of the Year" eight times before retiring from the competitive circuit.

The Office, "New Leads": Best Lines of the Night and Video!

The sales guys at Dunder Mifflin have let their positions go to their heads on this week's The Office, and the rest of the staff (especially Michael) is not too pleased. Jim is on his BlackBerry, Andy has a Bluetooth - so wait, Michael Scott's employees actually work? What happened to our loveable goof-offs?! No sign of them here, as everyone appears to be running off dollar signs.

So how do you rein in a spoiled child? Michael's theory is to withhold (read: literally hide, as in a scavenger hunt) expensive sales leads to regain his authority - which, of course, goes wrong. The episode has a few funny exchanges worth mentioning, although overall, I found the storyline to just be okay. Check out the quotes I liked, and then add your favorites in the comments!

Michael: "Screw you, Halpert. You know, it's not easy getting excited about stuff. You know how you felt when you thought you had seen Roger Clemens."
Jim: "At the Yankees game, yeah."
Michael: "Well, it wasn't him."
Jim: "I have better reason to believe that...you're right. You're right. Well, you're not right, because Johnny Depp in your condo complex?"
Michael: "I know. It also explains why the name on his mailbox was M. Shyamalan."
Jim: "M. Night Shymalan?"
Michael thinks he sees Johnny Depp in his apartment complex - which is, of course, ridiculous, as Jim is the first to point out. Really, Michael, Johnny Depp? Jim is usually right about most things, so perhaps you want to believe him on this one.

Dwight will stop at nothing to get his hands on the expensive sales leads, even if it means, say, going to the landfill to search for a needle in a haystack (the so-called "needle" being one lead's info). I have to say that the fake green screen/backdrop for the landfill is incredibly obvious, but I was still entertained by watching Michael and Dwight get into a lovers' quarrel, which doesn't happen every day. Even watching them kick around the giant-sized spool was worth a chuckle or two.
Kelly: "You know, maybe if the salesmen weren't acting like a bunch of stuck up losers, maybe this day wouldn't be so bad. Did you ever think of that?"
Jim: "I have new baby pictures."
Kelly: "Don't use your cute baby to make us like you."
Jim: "She was wearing a onesie."
Jim tries to ease relations between his sales side and the rest of the office (in this case, Kelly and Oscar), but it appears the damage has already been done. Don't you hate it when people use their child against you? Evil, Jim. Not that Jim is totally to blame; I'd bet that onesie is pretty cute.
Michael: "You know what I should have been doing? I should have been out at bars, finding my soulmate, finding my wife, making babies."
Dwight: "Nice babies you're making with the floosies at the bars."
Michael: "That's my wife you're talking about, man!"
Dwight: "Your made-up wife who doesn't exist?"
The verbal brawl between Dwight and Michael at the dumpster continues, with Michael coming up with excuses for why he hasn't settled down yet. The two eventually make up (thanks in part to a giant old beanbag chair), but the whole back-and-forth raised a semi-interesting point - will Michael ever get married? What do you think?

Jesse James cheats on Sandra Bullock

Hey guys, I know this isn't news to some of you but I got some more information off of 92.5 Kiss FM this morning about what happened, at least according to them. Sandra gets a call from her publicist stating that Michelle "Bombshell" McGee is coming out to the magazines talking about her 11 month affair with Jesse James. Sandra dismissed this at first saying that her publicist was crazy, but apparently when she had a talk with her husband he either confessed or looked guilty. Either way, that same day she moved out of their house and is staying with family. Sandra stated, "It is bad enough when a woman finds out that her husband is cheating but knowing that this is going to be in a magazine and having all the details out in the open is heartbreaking."

Apparently it seems like there is a connection with woman who get Oscars for main actress and then having their husbands cheat on them; such as Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon, and Kate Hudson. It seems that these men have a problem with women in power.

Another tidbit that was said was when Sandra and Jesse went to an after party, all the attention was on her and not on Jesse and apparently he was getting upset so he went outside for awhile until she had to go find him. What is it with these men that seem to have a problem with their wife holding the spotlight? Plus, how can someone have an affair that long?
