If you want to learn to act like the boss, you may want to pick up a copy of Stanley Bing's (aka. Gil Schwartz) new book, How to Relax Without Getting the Axe. Just be fair warned, Bing's tips for getting ahead are much more playing the part than they are actual guidelines for working your way up the corporate ladder.

Metaphor: Smart Men Make Passes at Women with Glasses
An Interview with Christine B. Whelan, author of 'Why Smart Men Marry Smart Women'
Meet Christine Whelan—an attractive, 29-year-old woman with a doctorate from Oxford University. When I spoke with her she happened to be single, having been dumped two years earlier by a man who told her she was intellectually intimidating.

For various reasons, I have been applying for new jobs within my company recently. Generally I will apply to anything that I am remotely qualified for or interested in. It is extremely difficult to get an interview for positions at my company for some reason. A lot of times, even if you are qualified, you won't get so much as an interview. Just a nice form email saying thanks but no thanks. Well, at the end of last week a job appeared on our internal jobs posting site that I want SO MUCH, and that I am really qualified for. However, I don't want to be overlooked. I usually will apply online, and then send my resume and a short email/cover letter to the hiring manager...which generally does not get a response. What I am thinking of doing is appling online, sending the cover letter to both the hiring manager and recruiter/hr person, and then finding someone to give me a recommendation. Does anyone have any other tips that could help me to get an interview? This is seriously all that I am thinking about- I really want this job! TIA

I feel like I am exploding with advice for these bright eyed and bushy tailed first year public relations students bouncing through the halls of my school. Sure, that was me two years ago, shortly before my caffeine addiction came into existence as a result of way too many 8 a.m. classes and all nighters.

What a year it’s been for the superstar. (“I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears,” she says.) Here, we salute her for, yes, her style and songs—but also for her message to young women, which she talks about in this Glamour exclusive. “Domestic violence is a big secret,” she says.

Hi! I'm not a nurse yet, but I've been seriously considering becoming a nurse, I'm a senior in high school. I did a CNA class this year, and I've done a few job shadows too.

So I am currently a junior in college and I am nearing my senior year, which most likely means afterwards going to law school. I'm considering a law school in NY, but I'm torn because while one of my dreams is to be an attorney another has been to pursue acting in NY(the mecca of actors and where most of them have been discovered). I feel like I'm at a fork in the road of life:
I could go to law school and become a lawyer, but I fear regretting my decision.

I have question about a recent job I applied for early this month (October 4th) the following day I did get a reply the next morning but only because my resume didn't download. I replied with an apology a few hours later and another attachment. I didn't hear back and wasn't sure what to do.On October 14th I got an email saying that they still had some part time positions available and if I was still looking for employment to which I answered yes (that I was available and still interested).
