20-Something Career Clothes

Hi Savvy,
I don't know if this more Fabsugar's department, but I was wondering if you could do a feature on appropriate career clothes for 20-something ladies? I feel like you don't want to look too casual, but I cringe when I see girls my age (25) schlepping to the office in french twists and stewardess suits. I really get sick of doing the whole button up shirt/black slack number too. I would love to see some cute career looks for my age group, and maybe some good places to shop. Thanks!

I am currently living in the same city i went to college and working at an entry level job that i don't really like. I really want to move to the biggest city in the state, (Charlotte) when my lease runs out in june. I am job hunting and having little luck in my field, (sales & marketing). Well, I got a call back from this woman about an HR position at the biggest hospital system in the state, located in Charlotte. I've never worked in HR and the job is an assistant position so its not really a career "advancement", but its a great company and located in my city of choice. Question: do i pursue it because it is the right location and a good company, or do i keep trying to find a job i know i'll love with the chance of not finding anything once june comes. help please!!

If there's one professional trait that I admire beyond bounds, it's an entrepreneurial spirit. It's hard not to be wowed by those who take charge, go out on their own, or create their own course when opportunity presents itself. That being said, taking career risks - whether a risky decision, move, or project - can be tricky and dangerous. Do you stick to the script at your job or in your professional endeavors, or are you a wild child when it comes to business?

i love oritse williams and all the boys in JLS I was reading a magazine last week I think heat and apparently Oritse has a cousin called christian jules who is a new solo artist comming out so im on the jls fan site and i see christian jules music oritse cousin facebook had a look and hes well fit girls just like his cousin wow ceeck him out hes talented like his cousin oritse and fit loooove JLS so hopeing he will be good to my first post yay got the pic of his face book

Coolio takes another stab at reality tv in attempt to resurrect career

Coolio was once cool. With the release of “Gangsta’s Paradise” in 1995, he was on top of the charts and equal with Snoop Dogg in urban music popularity. But somehow he lost the momentum and his subsequent releases failed to make a mark. Personally, I contribute his fall to his sanctimonious objection to Weird Al’s “Amish Paradise” parody. Yankovic holds favor with the music gods and disagreeing with him brings about their wrath every time. Eminem wouldn’t let Weird Al parody “Lose Yourself” and look where he is. James Blunt’s record company rescinded their permission to parody “You’re Beautiful” and doomed Blunt to declaring he’d stop making music as people have requested if they paid him enough. Prince has repeatedly refused Yankovic, but he actually is one of the music gods, so he gets a pass.

But Coolio wasn’t so lucky and his music career tanked. Like so many other struggling celebrities, Coolio went the reality competition show route to try and keep himself in the public eye, but it never really worked. He did Celebrity Fear Factor, Celebrity Boot Camp, Celebrity Paranormal Project and I don’t think anyone even knew it. So now, still equating himself with Snoop, Coolio is trying the family reality show, like Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Has the classic TV family sitcom been replaced by the family-focused reality series? There’s a strong argument to be made with the premiere of “Coolio’s Rules,” starring a bumbling buffoon of a father and his four whiny kids, each with an outsized sense of entitlement.

With exposure from the show, Coolio may be able to revive a rap career that pretty much flatlined more than a decade ago. He might also launch a new career as the Ghetto Gourmet, complete with cookbook and catering service.

The premise of the series is that Coolio is going to try to be the father he never was when his kids were growing up. Now that the eldest two, Artisha and Brandi, are 20, and the others are 18 (Artis) and 15 (Jackie), dad is going to try to instill in them the wisdom he learned as a child (except, maybe, the part about being jailed for larceny at age 17).

OK! Magazine says that Coolio, who is a single father, is one of those militant-dad types when it comes to his kids dating. It all sounds a bit over the top to me, there’s little doubt in my mind this is played up for TV. Coolio claims he confronts his daughters’ dates with a pit bull and knife while explaining how he expects them to behave.

But crazy is sometimes entertaining. Coolio tells of walking into the house and finding one of his daughters sitting on a guy’s lap, much to Dad’s objection.

When she wouldn’t move and reminded him that she was 20-years old, Coolio replied “…you better get yourself a 20-year-old house then!”

A new and novel way of saying “my house, my rules,” and it’s not the last Coolio-ism he’s got in him. If you’re interested, Coolio’s Rules premieres Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 10 p.m. on Oxygen.

Kate Moss Wants Career In Music

From the catwalk to the billboard charts, Kate Moss is ready to give up modeling for a career in music.

"She has told everyone she won't carry on modeling after she turns 35. Songwriting and being a singer will slowly take over," a source close to Moss said.

If her career in music will be anything like the videos she made with former flame Pete Doherty, we're thinking multiple Grammy's.

Pink Blames Career For Divorce

Pink is blaming the success of her career for the failure of her marriage to ex Carey Hart.

She says, "It's such a cliché when you talk about a Hollywood divorce, but the scheduling did get very hard. And it seemed that I was always the one left in charge of it. I got tired of being the Schedule Woman."

She adds, "I'm kind of boy crazy at the moment, but I'm strictly, 'Look, don't touch'. Until I find someone who is yummier than Carey, I'm not interested. And I haven't yet."

Why can't these two crazy kids just patch things up and get back on track? We loved them a couple, and they clearly still love each other. It's another Pam/Tommy situation.

Amy Winehouse’s former manager says she needs a career break

Amy Winehouse’s former manager would rather the troubled star beat her alleged drug addiction before releasing another record.

Pop supremo Nick Godwyn signed Winehouse to 19 Management when she was just 16.
And Godwyn thinks it is time for the Rehab hitmaker to have a career break, so she can concentrate on her personal life.

He says, “What is happening now is not very pleasant for anybody to watch. I feel she seems to be sad. People talk about wasted talent, but I don’t look at it like that. If Amy never made another record again it would be sad, but it’s less about the music for me and more about, ‘this is a human being that maybe isn’t very happy’.”

And Godwyn believes the 24-year-old has always lived an unhappy life.

He adds, “There were signs, even back then, that she wasn’t happy. You can listen to the words of her songs and there aren’t many happy, upbeat love songs. And I think that’s a reflection of where she is. She only writes songs from personal experience. There are some beautiful songs which, lyrically, are fascinating. But some of them are quite sad.”

Halle Berry Thinks Motherhood With Boost Her Career

As if her career needs boosting! Halle Berry feels that motherhood is going to open up new doors for her as far as quality of roles. She can't wait to get started! Although Halle insists that she is going to work less frequently, she is moving beyond the sex symbol and onto to something of more substance.

"I feel having a baby will open up a whole new world for me. I think I’ll actually find better roles, because I’ve gotten past being the ingenue and sex symbol."

"I’m definitely going to work less. I used to put so much pressure on myself to succeed that it often made me very unhappy in my personal life. I felt on the verge of burning out three or four years ago."

Drea De Matteo blames Joey for her career hiatus

Drea De Matteo reportedly blames her role in cancelled sitcom Joey for ruining her career.

The former Sopranos star signed up to play Matt LeBlanc’s sister on the NBC show, after he continued his famed Friends character for the spin-off following the conclusion of the original hit series in 2004.

But the show failed to win over Friends fans, and was scrapped by the U.S. network in 2006 after only two series.

And, according to New York gossip column Page Six, De Matteo regrets accepting a part in the doomed series - admitting she has been out of work since the show ended.

A source tells the publication, “She was saying Joey completely ruined her career. She called it horrible and said she hasn’t been able to really work since then.

“She said she’s really been out of the business and is trying to get back in.”
