Su Casa member LittleLeo recently transformed a dated china cabinet into a fabulous bookcase:
We inherited this piece from a friend who was getting a new dining room set. My husband couldn't understand why I wanted the cabinet and not the dining table too. I explained I had a vision for my home office.

Casa Sugar has, once again, inspired me to share some of my DIY and home decorating projects with her recent post on organizing hangers. All kidding aside, having thicker, matching hangers was one of the things that I deemed to be extremely important when my husband and I remodeled the child's rooom, located directly off of our master bedroom, and turned it into our walk-in closet.
I don't have the "before" photos but you'll have to trust me when I tell you that it was a mess.

Once again, I'm inspired by a recent Casa post to share a little corner of my space with you. The artists in this space did such a wonderful job creating a home and working studio. But what I found particularly intriguing was the light in the kitchen.

An outside view of my house looking north at the bottom edge of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains
I'm sitting here watching the final moments of the Blackhawks vs. Canucks game, which is going to be won by Chicago on this chilly Saturday night. Completely a surprise when the game seemed like the Canucks were in full control of the game, the 'Hawks woke up in the second period and seamlessly regained the stranglehold of the action.

A lot of my design inspiration comes from nature, and tree branches are the easiest way to bring earthy elements to your home. West elm has jumped on this bandwagon, along with a hand full of other retailers. (click to enlarge my inspiration board below)
I am a HUGE accessories freak.

This is one of my favorite spots in our home. It's a sideboard that houses games, but it's the map above and bowls on top of it that make it my favorite. The map is mounted on foam core so we can add pins to it to mark all the places we've been to as a family.

Blue doors, commonly found in the Mediterranean and North Africa, are thought to repel evil. I think they're beautiful & I will definitely have one when I someday have a villa in the area. Photos courtesy of Glamour Junkie (http://glamjunkie.wordpress.com).

one of my favorite spots in my home is the kitchen nook corner. i feel it conveys a simple and quaint impression. its original pushed out corner creates a nice seating area.
