Last weekend I decided to go to the movies alone. Just me, a small bag of popcorn, and a movie I've been dying to see. A movie that was then interrupted by a ringing cell phone.

On a balmy autumn day in Vancouver, a young man is longing for a walk outside in the sunshine, and deciding against it. Far easier for him to stay in his hotel room, cocooned in five-star luxury with a mobile phone that has run out of charge, safe at least from the girls chanting his name outside. Robert Pattinson, 23 and from Barnes in southwest London, ought still to be one of Hollywood’s beautiful dreamers, moving up the ranks of movie acting, enjoying his American adventure, his guitar, his good looks.

Golden Globe nominee Brad Pitt stars in a cheeky new Japanese television commercial for Softbank Mobile's winter 2008 collection.
In the 30-second spot, directed by Wes Anderson, Pitt has no speaking lines but has plenty of action.
He helps a group of people in a stalled car, nearly gets run over by a crowd of bicyclists and snaps a photo of a topless sunbather.

Falsely accused man: Hofstra rape probe was rushed
September 17, 2009 by KEITH HERBERT AND DANIEL EDWARD ROSEN / keith.herbert@newsday.com

Several of the models at the L.A.M.B presentation this afternoon eschewed pants. But they could have been totally naked (or wearing barrels, or modeling gowns made from banana peels) for all that anyone paid any attention to them. By Wesley Pruden
These are not your granny's tea parties. One tea party even panicked Secret Service bodyguards when a foolish tea-sipper threw a harmless tea bag over the White House fence.
"Tea-bag parties" erupted — and "erupted" is the correct verb — across the country on April 15, celebrated by joyous "progressive" taxpayers and loathed by everybody else as the day to report the intimate details of your life, along with cash, to the Internal Revenue Bureau (which the bureau insists that we call not a bureau but a "service").

HE’S HOT, HE’S SEXY, HE’S UNDEAD
Two years ago, Robert Pattinson was a forgotten extra in a ‘Harry Potter’ movie. Then he got cast as a blue-balled vampire in ‘Twilight,’ the year’s kazillion-dollar movie franchise, and every woman in America over 14 wants him. Too bad he’s not sure he wants them
It’s December; Twilight, in which Pattinson, 22, plays an adorably tortured perma-teenage vampire too principled to drink human blood, has been in theaters for about a month.
