Su Casa member LittleLeo recently transformed a dated china cabinet into a fabulous bookcase:
We inherited this piece from a friend who was getting a new dining room set. My husband couldn't understand why I wanted the cabinet and not the dining table too. I explained I had a vision for my home office.

>Hi Reader,
I have been a voyeur at this site for quite some time and as such I have come to respect your design vision. I need your help ASAP! I recently experienced some water damage to my 1942 custom bungalow. As a result the wonderful insurance company has come through and has agreed to re-install new hardwood floors in my dining room and living room, paint the entire kitchen (including cabinets) laundry room, dining room, living room and to install a new kitchen floor. My problem is choosing paint color for my rooms! I am so overwhelmed with all the options I have been researching. I am posting pictures in the gallery and hopefully here too but it is difficult to get a feel for the space because there is no furniture or art or anything personal in the rooms! So I guess I had better give you some idea what our idea of a comfortable space looks like. We are eclectic in our tastes. Mixed antiques and modern midcentury pieces are scattered about. I collect Shag prints, which are bold and bright with lots of oranges and greens. I also collect tikis but HATE the beachy thing. My husband is an airbrush artist and tends toward bold deep color. Now the house. We have 8 foot ceiling in the living area and dining area with coved ceilings and curved walls. I am installing recessed lighting in all three rooms. The red kitchen island that sits in the dining room in the pictures obviously belongs in the kitchen and well be painted as well. Lots of nooks and crannies and built in cabinets and bookcases scattered about. Give it your best shot! HELP me pick some amazing paint color and I will post the finished result for your viewing pleasure! P.S. I am looking for a chesterfield sofa for the living room in what I envision to be olive green leather. Any ideas? Here is a link to the Flicker site for some pics! http://www.flickr.com/photos/44249767@N05/?saved=1

THE big drawback to being a host who wants to give a perfect dinner party is that you end up paralyzed by too many decisions. Is red meat O.K.?

I missed the January Su Casa Challenge which I am bummed about because I LOVE color! I recently just made my spare bedroom into an office and painted it pink, which my husband was terrified of but has now grown to love (he says it's both soothing and energizing ;)
I am posting some pics of my favorite rooms and pops of color just for fun. The lamp in the dining room hasn't found a home yet, but I know just the piece of furniture I'm hoping to buy to give the lamp a home!

Ok ok ok, i know it has been a while since anyone has heard from me but here is the situation. We bought a house :) rather quickly and last minute but i think it all fell into place. We bought a place in Jenkintown Pa about 20 minutes outside of downtown Philadelphia.

After the Chicago fire of 1871, architects and structural engineers flocked there. As they rebuilt the city's streets and structures, they developed a new form of architecture that was appropriate for the modern age. Among the principal architects working in Chicago was Louis Sullivan, one of the few American architects to find a place in the international Art Nouveau movement.

One of the biggest challenges in personal finance is figuring out ways to reduce the regular bills that we all face each month. These continuous regular expenses simply fill up our budget, leaving us less money to invest for the future - and also less money to spend on things that we enjoy.
The best approach for trimming required spending is to simply walk through all of the required expenses and look for ways to lower that number.
