Not really news... but it's big. And probably one of the better kids shows on the air today.

POOR old De Beers is being harassed on all sides.
Though the diamond giant claims everything is tickety-boo with resurgent sales, chairman Julian Ogilvie Thompson warns of 'the likely increases in the flow of rough diamonds from Angola and the US stockpile, and uncertainty over possible leakages of Russian goods'.
All very ominous but cynics are also remarking on the coincidence that the £150 million recently raised on the capital markets equates neatly with the cost of the current final dividend payout.

In August, National Public Radio's flagship music program All Songs Considered published "The Best Music of 2009 (So Far)," a rundown of the top 30 songs and albums of the year-to-date as voted by the show's listeners.
The results of the survey suggest that the All Songs Considered audience has a fuzzy understanding of the word "all." "The Best Music of 2009 (So Far)" consists almost entirely of indie-rockers: acts like The Decemberists, Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Neko Case, Andrew Bird, Regina Spektor, and Animal Collective, the Brooklyn art-rock group that took the top spot in both the best songs and best albums tallies.

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs coveredwith bright colored lead-base paints..We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads. And when we had our sleds, we tied them to the bumper of a car and had a really neat ride as long as you made sure you didn't slide under the car when it stoppedAs infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter or lard and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight.. WHY?

After an impressive 3-0 start, the Jets earned its first lost of the season, 24-10 against New Orleans on Sunday. Now, they are looking to bounce back as they face the Dolphins’ prolific rushing attack on Monday night game. In last season's final week, Dolphins clinched the division with a 24-17 road win over New York, however, Jets won 20-14 in Miami in the 2008 season opener.

TO listen to President Obama’s speech on Wednesday night, or to just about anyone else in the health care debate, you would think that the biggest problem with health care in America is the system itself — perverse incentives, inefficiencies, unnecessary tests and procedures, lack of competition, and greed.

An Ill Wind is Breaking For Our President
T. Coddington Van Voorhees VII
Editor at Large, the National Topsider
Another Labor Day weekend wafts into Montauk, borne as always upon a chill wind of melancholy; a breeze that ushers in blithe spirits for the coming gay lawn soirees, the final chukkers of the summer polo leagues, the annual Montauk-to-Newport gin barrel regatta. But the selfsame mistral likewise presages season's end, and the maids' ritual packing away of the pastels and seersuckers for the annual migration to the dismally gauche winter quarters of Florida.

I posted this in another section, under "gifts for your man"...but this site is confusing to me right now, so I will just post it here and see what you have to say.
BF and I have been together 2 1/2 years, and he is turning 21 in a month. I am 22, so people have been asking me what I did for that occasion, and then just alter it for him.

BF and I have been together 2 1/2 years, and he is turning 21 in a month. I am 22, and we didn't do much on my 21st birthday. We are pretty no-frills people, so we don't really celebrate birthdays or holidays.
