Sienna Miller Joins ‘GI Joe’ Movie

Sienna Miller… a real American hero?

British actress Sienna Miller is the first to join the big-budget G.I. Joe movie, according to Variety.

The 25-year-old starlet will play the film’s female lead, described as a raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage. Filming begins mid-February!

The Stephen Sommers-directed film will be live-action and is based on the Hasbro toys, comicbook and TV series. The story is set at Brussels-based GIJOE, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer.

G.I. Joe: The Movie is scheduled for an Aug. 7, 2009, release.

It was announced that Czech supermodel Karolina Kurkova will play Cover Girl in new G.I. Joe live action movie.

Courtney A. Kreiger, better known as Cover Girl, is a fictional character from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero-themed toy line of the 1980s, appearing in both the comic books and the cartoons. She is one of G.I. Joe’s tank jockeys, specializing in the Wolverine missile tank.

Prior to joining G.I. Joe, Cover Girl was a highly successful fashion model from Peoria, Illinois who graced the covers of countless magazines, but she found the world of modeling unfulfilling and joined the army to seek out new challenges in life. There are many reasons why I'm smitten with Sienna Miller's Isabel Marant Fall 'fit.. Her ruched print dress is ultra rad and I can't take my eyes off those studded booties - hotness. Take note of the artistic graduated cone heel. This frame takes on a more triangular shape compared to regular cone heels. Less cylindrical, more severe, and way more sexy. I like it.

The Lite-Brite Story

This is what MacGyver could of done with a light bulb, a shoebox, a black piece of paper, and some colored pegs. Dubbed "25 watts of fun" by many of its fans, Lite-Brite put the "art" in "a million little parts," and gave hope to children who did not possess an ounce of artistic ability but wanted to fiddle with a steaming heat lamp and accessories the size of thumbtacks. Children who could not draw a circle with a compass while on a merry-go-round could now create full scenes from their favorite cartoon, just by placing a peg into a hole. Paint by numbers became push by numbers, and creating neon paintings of rainbows was as easy as putting a plug into a socket.

The Lite-Brite was born in 1967, was popular in the 80s and got weird looking in the 21st century. The 400 plastic pegs that came with Lite-Brite were the size of Chicklets and were available in 8 different colors: green, blue, red, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and clear. Lite-Brite came with a handful of generic sheets to follow patterns on or to poke through, but themed page refills were eventually released in every toy store and for every toy line. The licensed refills became even more popular than the toy itself. Movies like Star Wars and E.T. and TV shows like the Smurfs and Scooby Doo all had their own page refills for you to follow. Children were more interested in creating neon versions of familiar characters than creating a masterpiece from scratch, and with Snorks, Dungeons and Dragons, Mr. Potato Head, Shamu from Dea World, and GI Joe all releasing their own pages for color choosing, Lite-Brite's relevance hit an all time high in the 1980s. Some historians even credit Lite-Brite as an early predecessor of the video game, but they obviously haven't seen XBox 360. Comparing next generation video game console to Lite Brite is like comparing Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel to Michelangelo's work in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

What does it all mean? Ever since its conception in the 60s, Lite-Brite has been an American tradition. But it wasn't until the 80s that the toy became a capitalisitc and synergetic dream, speaking to children ready to waste 4 hours of their day breaking paper with little plastic light bulbs. Lite-Brite was a toy for young aspiring artist whose parents figured actual paints were way too messy for inside the house, forgetting that 400 miniature light bulbs spread across the living room floor weren't much better. Whether following instructions or producing a glowing work of genius freehand, Lite-Brite was the creative outlet needed to motivate children of all ages to follow their dreams and stay with the arts, one day possiblt shifting the cultural landscape with their own paintings, photographs, or installations.

I personally love the Lite-Brite and still have my original. They still make them and they still have refills out there. I always loved doing the Care Bear ones. After every single picture that I completed my mom would take a picture, LOL.

Fab Ad: Isabel Marant, Fall '09

I admit, I'm a bit disappointed with Isabel Marant's Fall campaign. For some reason, the designer swapped out the awesome Daria Werbowy for the newly married Milla Jovovich. The ad, shot by Inez and Vinoodh, pictures Milla - in the same exact pose - wearing Marant's delectable fur chubbies, velvet shorts, soft tees, tiered skirts, and luscious studded booties. Remember when Sienna Miller donned them during her G.I. Joe circuit? I love the clothes, but the ad doesn't do them justice. Call me crazy but there was something about Daria that embodied Marant's fun fashion, and Milla just leaves me kinda bored. Thoughts?
