Hey there, sugars!
I have somewhat recently become totally lactose intolerant... as in, no butter, no cheese, no yogurt...

Tandoori turkey in the oven
For a few years now I've wanted to try to marry the traditional Southern Indian food my husband grew up enjoying with Thanksgiving as I know it (Southern girl with a love of spice and heat).
So this year I did a trial run of a tandoori-style turkey made in the oven. By next year I hope to build my own tandoor, or at least grill this guy, because it needs a little more heat to crisp up properly.

I made Yum's insanely good mac 'n' cheese recipe in some ramekins my mother in law gave me for creme brulee. The little tart-size dishes made the meal extra cute, and I substituted bacon for walnuts for extra yumminess. The combo of sharp gorgonzola, crisp apples and rich bacon was so good, literally one of the most delish things I've ever tasted, and I never would have thought of it on my own.

I made a loaf of rosemary focaccia today and unfortunately am a little disappointed. It's a bit too dense and rose too much while baking. It's still good, just not awesome. I think I added too much flour.

Last night I was inspired by JessNess's blog "What's Your Background," and Whiplashgirlchild's Jewish Recipes. So I'd like to share one of my favorite Cuban main dishes with you all. The results is a mouth-watering shredded beef dish with lots of bursting flavors.

Everyone will tell you they have a hashbrown casserole, they have some cheesy potatoes, they’ve got some Campbell’s soup slop recipe. Read my lips: They are full of shit.
It’s these, baby.

I'm struggling with my soup for the week. I'm still housesitting, therefore I'm still perusing my mother's recipes. I'm experiencing recipe-goodness-overload!! And after the holiday weekend--filled with munchies, sweets, and drinks--I'm feeling very unhealthy. I'm not the type that counts every calorie and tries every new diet on for size. My philosophy is more to not deny myself anything, and keep portions balanced. However, the pants are starting to be too snug for my liking, so I want to be extra conscious about what I eat for the next few weeks. The problem is, when I cook, I snack. The two seem to go hand-in-hand for me.
Anyway, back to the soup... I've narrowed it down to three: minestrone, or two different types of chicken noodle. Two of the three are chock full of veggies, and none of them require an abundance of cream. I'll just have to see what ingredients I have on hand and what can be purchased on sale. Hopefully I'll have it narrowed down by the time I get to PCC tonight.

After seeing BabySugar's ghostly cupcakes, I wanted to bake something Halloweenish for my wee ones. I was thrilled when I found these simple and adorable marshmallow skulls – a perfect decoration for a Halloween baked good. With only a bag of marshmallows, color sprinkles and a knife, I turned a regular marshmallow into a spooky skull.

I need a good homemade mac and cheese recipe. I've scoured the internet, but I just can't seem to find one that looks like it might be good. People want to put onions, peas, carrots, and mustard into the stuff. I mean, it's just mac and cheese...
Sigh.
So...
