Today's website of the day Fast Food Maps certainly isn't the most useful, or healthy site I've found, but it offers that oh-so-greasy quick fix we all crave every once in a while in the form of an innovative mashup site. (Shhh, don't tell Fit!)
The site combines google maps with the location of fast food restaurants in more than 50 cities across the United States. Last time I checked there were 49,747 McDonald's, In-N-Out, Burger King, Pizza Hut etc.

There's no end to the amount of entertainment that Google Maps' Street View provides. I remember when it came out and I thought, cool, I can look at the outside of hotels I'm going to stay in and my house. I didn't dream of the possibilities that could be exploited by a bunch of Google cars until controversy started popping up when it caught some odd and slightly incriminating photos.

For those of you who live by the rule "It's five o'clock somewhere", UnThirsty is a Google maps mashup that will locate your nearest happy hour locale happening RIGHT NOW and also give you info on any food specials, outdoor seating, and Wi-Fi hotspots at each watering-hole.
Here in New Orleans it lights up like a Christmas tree.

It looks like I am just another one of millions of Americans that thinks I am getting a lot more physical exercise than I really am. Gmaps Pedometer allows you to record your daily run, the walk to Starbucks or your walk to your favorite bookstore on the Google map and then gives you the total distance, mile markers and even a calorie counter breakdown based on your weight.
I learned my favorite running path along the Marina Green in San Francisco is 1.24 miles (there and back) and burns 108 calories at my body weight, whereas my walk to the bus stop from the office is 0.11 miles and burns 10 calories (it seems like so much longer when I'm lugging my purse!)
FitSugar says we should all be taking 6,000 steps a day for health and 10,000 for weight-loss...so can I call myself a healthy geek if I start plotting out all my major activity?

There are a ton of travel planning sites, but I just found my new favorite. Duffel (find the site at duffelup) calls itself "a trip-planning tool for people who are not planning any trips," but it's pretty handy for actual trip planning, too.
Sign into the site to create trips — real or imagined — to any place in the world.

Glad to see that we get to be on StreetView too! At least the NB/Central Jersey area seems to be covered!
Look!

Thanks to GeekSugar for posting about this issue.
It reminded me to do some neglected follow-up.

In case you haven't done so yet, you may want to google your street address.

Most people think of Google as a mechanical claw toy: They use it to fish a specific piece of information out of the giant pool of data we know as the Web. But turn that thinking upside down and you can see the hidden utility of the service. Rather than trolling for specific bits of data, search for specific kinds of data and you'll uncover all sorts of cool things.
