While seeing her picture everywhere isn't uncommon, it is rare we can get an interview out of her. The 19-year-old model did grant an interview as well as a cover to this week's Page Six Magazine. She talks about diversity, dating, and dogs:

On Dating:

"I'm young and I'm dating. But I'm not gonna say any names.There are special people in my life but nothing serious. Just having a man in general is a job! I have one job; I can't have a second. I'm the type of girl that if I have a man, I want to be a good girlfriend and be there for them and take care of them.

On Fashion Week:

“Honestly, I try to forget Fashion Week once it’s over. I just want to go home and rest and just forget I even did it. It could drive you crazy! It’s just show after show after show, and you’re missing your family and they feel really far away. You don’t go to sleep. You work for a month. You spend all this time trying on clothes… what drives me the most crazy is people touching me all the time. That does get weird.”

On why she named her dog “Louis Dior”:

“I really loved working with [Dior designer] John Galliano-he’s so amazing. He actually let me name my dog Dior. I asked him! Right after I bought my puppy, I flew to Paris and John was the first designer that I saw. So I was like, ‘Hey, I don’t have a name for my puppy, so is it OK, John, if I name him Dior?’ He said, ‘It would be my honor.’ So I took a picture of me and my dog and sent it to him. He loved it.”

On Diversity in the Industry:

“It’s not just black girls. It’s ethnic girls in general: Brazilian girls, Hispanic. You really don’t see a lot of Asians either. A lot of designers think that if every girl on the runway looks exactly alike, then people will come to the shows and buy the clothes because they won’t be focusing on the models….It’s not even just runway either… us ethnic girls should be getting a lot of the covers too! I would love to be on half of the campaigns these [white] girls are booking, all looking exactly alike. It’s not right. It’s not fair.”

Heidi Klum says Iman is right that she has less fashion experience

Heidi Klum launched her line of Jordache Jeans at Bloomingdales in Beverly Hills yesterday. The 34 year-old model and mother of three answered a reporter’s question about comments from model Iman, who hosts Canada’s version of Project Runway. Iman said that she has much more experience with high fashion than Klum, who hosts Project Runway in the US.

Klum said that Iman was right and that she is more qualified to host a fashion design show:

“She [Iman] has done all the big big fashion shows that I’ve never done. She’s been doing it for a little while longer, and she has met all the big big designers in the world.”

The 5′ 9 1/2″ 130 pound Klum also added that she doesn’t have the slight build required for a high fashion model: “I never really fit in the clothes. I tried. But I never got to walk in Paris and do all the big big fashion shows.”

So much for any feud between Heidi and Iman. Heidi Klum bugs me sometimes because her wide mouth seems to plaster nearly every drugstore and billboard in Germany where I live. She always comes across as funny and gracious in interviews, though and she certainly handled this issue well.

For her part Iman seemed like she was answering a specific question about the differences between herself and the US host, Heidi, and she was honest and not too snotty about it. She said “Definitely Heidi and I come from two different places. I’m not belittling Heidi Klum, but I have been in fashion much more than she has. Not to toot my own horn, but I have been one of the best runway girls.”

You're not the only one making changes in '09. VOGUE has decided to trade in the Brazilian bombshells for younger, up-and-coming models, and their January 2009 issue gets off to a good start. The magazine features 19-year-old Chanel Iman and 18-year-old Jourdan Dunn in a sixteen page fashion spread. The spread, called "Magical Realism" shows Dunn and Iman in looks straight off the spring runways from Ralph Lauren to Rodarte and Rick Owens. “Who better than Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn, two models poised for even greater heights in the new year, to adopt the season’s understated attitude,” the magazine writes. Rumors that Kanye West was interning at Gap this summer were put to rest (kinda) when his friend Patrick Robinson said: “He’s not my intern! He’s a friend of mine, and he just likes to see what we do. I tell him, if he wants people to take him seriously in fashion, they have to see blood first! They have to see the blood and the sweat, to see that he really wants it - but he definitely has the capability.

Anna Wintour is scheduled to appear on CBS's The Late Show With David Letterman on Monday, August 24- to promote her movie, of course, and also plans to attend the newly revamped London fashion week for the first time since 2007, which is exactly what the efforts were put in for.

Chanel Iman is scheduled to guest judge on an episode of America's Next Top Model's newest cycle. The 13th cycle features women who are all under 5'7", which doesn't really make a difference, because they still wouldn't make it in the industry if they were 5'9" anyways!
