I don’t mean to sound disrespectful. I know this man changed things within the music industry and opened a lot of doors for upcoming African American artist everywhere, and that's a good thing. But I will be sooooo glad when tomorrow comes and goes, as you know Michael's funeral is happening.

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is trying to quell the escalating debate over who should pick up the estimated $1.4 million tab for police, traffic control and other services related to Michael Jackson's memorial service.
Villaraigosa, who was vacationing in South Africa a week ago when more than 17,000 fans flocked to downtown Los Angeles to watch the public memorial, asserted Monday that the city will pay. He said he will not ask the Jackson family or AEG Live, the owner of the Staples Center where the event was held, to help the city recoup its expenses, and he lambasted a city Web site set up to request donations.

Mark Sanford isn't the only person relishing the King of Pop's demise—national security experts are warning that his death could distract from Iran's increasing crackdown on democracy.
The jokes popped up almost immediately that Mark Sanford was the luckiest guy on Earth after word broke that Michael Jackson had suffered a heart attack. But the notion that Jackson's death, which preempted virtually all other news coverage on the cable networks last night, is sucking up media attention from other matters carries a dark edge to it as well.

At tonight's BET Awards, CNN's Don Lemon attempted to interview Joe Jackson about the death of his son. Jackson answered Lemon's questions with abrupt, detached answers, passed the mic to his spokesperson and attorney, and then promoted his record company.
Jackson's answers were strange right off the bat: Lemon asks him how he's doing, and Jackson responds, "great, I'm doing pretty good," which seems like a peculiar thing to say after one has just lost one's son.
