A year after an unruly crowd trampled a worker to death at a Wal-Mart store, the nation’s retailers are preparing for another Black Friday, the blockbuster shopping day after Thanksgiving. Along with offering $300 laptops and $99 navigation devices, stores are planning new safety measures to make sure the festive day does not take another deadly turn.
Last year, frenzied shoppers at a Wal-Mart in Valley Stream, N.Y., trampled Jdimytai Damour, a temporary store worker who died soon afterward.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - It may not seem like it when commuters are shouting down their cell phones to the dismay of other passengers but most Americans believe there are unspoken rules about mobile phone etiquette.

I really need some help here from this fabulous community – I don’t know whether I’m being unreasonable, so need to put this out there.
When my boyfriend and I got together 2 and a half years ago, he explained he was still living at home because he was about to quit his job in finance and strike out as his own as a writer. I admired his guts, and although I found it a little odd having to see his folks twice / three times week, they were nice so I didn’t mind too much.

For the first couple of days after his flight ditched into the Hudson River, Paul Jorgenson was just glad to be alive. But then he started to need his laptop, his wallet, his car keys -- all the essentials he had stowed under his seat and left behind in the sinking plane.
A pleasant woman at US Airways told him not to worry; he would be made whole for his losses.

BLOG TEEN'S SUPREME IRE
RIPS SONIA AS A FOE OF FREE SPEECH
By JENNIFER FERMINO
BATTLE: Avery Doninger was barred from holding student office over a blog vulgarity, and Sonia Sotomayor backed the girl'sConnecticut school.
A Connecticut teen who used a vulgar epithet on a personal blog to describe her school's administrators never imagined someone like Sonia Sotomayor would stand in the way of her student-government career.
But the Supreme Court nominee did just that last year, when she sided with school brass, which had barred the ambitious student from holding office over the offending blog entry.
