Michelle Obama is the 44 year-old wife of the presumptive Democratic nominee for President. She has degrees from Princeton and Harvard Law School and is a working mom who has raised two daughters. She grew up on the South side of Chicago, where her mom was a secretary and her dad worked for the water company.

The first lady arrived Wednesday with President Barack Obama.

WASHINGTON — First lady Michelle Obama planted the first fruit and vegetable seedlings in the new White House garden Thursday, assisted by a group of eager fifth-graders who tend to a similar garden at their school.
An advocate of eating fresh and healthy food, she could be enjoying salads made with lettuce from the garden in about two weeks.
Spinach, assorted types of lettuce, herbs, onions, shallots, cucumbers and peas are among the crops planted Thursday.

First lady Michelle Obama joins push for Sotomayor

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House dispatched first lady Michelle Obama to defend Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor on Wednesday, part of a broad offensive to humanize the judge that came as former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich backed off his harsh criticism of her as a racist.
Mrs. Obama told students at a high school graduation that Sotomayor is "more than ready" to be a justice and compared the judge's life story of humble beginnings and high achievement to the paths taken by her husband and herself.

Sir Paul McCartney has made the President-elect an offer too good to pass up: he wants to sing for Michelle Obama.
"I think sincerely he is the man for the job. I think it is a legendary occasion and I wish him the very best," McCartney told Britain's Sky News backstage at the MTV Europe Music Awards Thursday night.

Okay, so as we've discussed before, Michelle is a snappy dresser. Like her or not, she's usually impeccably dressed. But most of us agreed THIS dress on election night was not her best choice.
