Recipe
Ingredients
1 baked nine-inch pie shell
2 pounds quality strawberries (you’ll have some extra berries to snitch or use for garnish)
1 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons butter
couple drops red food coloring (optional)
1 cup whipping cream
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1. Prick the surface of the pie crust with the tines of fork to allow for steam to escape and avoid bubbles in the crust. Bake the crust for eight to twelve minutes or until it just starts to brown.

After an hour of searching I have found it!
My "The Traditional Pie Cook Book", I bought it at a garage sale about a year ago.
Today I tried out a recipe from it for the first time.

I was given the honor of cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my family this year. It was only three of us so it wasn't a huge challenge, but still a fun project!
This meal is pretty similar to my Halloween Dinner, but the food was such a success I had to make it again.

fall is here.
it's obvious-- from the weather to the changing leaves to the crop of non-rerun television shows.
and then, of course, to the grocery store produce section.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and my love of all things pumpkin is hardly waning. From yogurt to muffins, I relish this tasty flavor of Fall. If you're looking for a pumpkin pie alternative, these pumpkin-carrot bars are delish.

Last night I made this for dinner. I didn't get any pictures, it was gone so fast, and I had left my camera at a friend's house anyway. It's really really good, and it's adapted from an old Betty Crocker recipe:
1 roll and bake pie crust
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon thyme
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup light cream (20%) ( I actually used heavy whipping cream and it was fine)
2 cups cubed cooked chicken or turkey
1 can (1 pound) peas and carrots, drained, or 1 package (10 oz.) frozen peas and carrots, cooked and drained
handful (maybe 1/3 cup) cooked edamame
mashed potatoes (from 3 large potatoes)
Heat oven to 425
Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat.
