Pinup girl Jeanne Carmen dies

IRVINE, Calif. - Jeanne Carmen, the "little country girl" who became a 1950s pinup and actress and hobnobbed with Frank Sinatra and other stars, has died. She was 77.

Carmen died of lymphoma Thursday at her Orange County home, said her son, Brandon James.

Born on Aug. 4, 1930, in Paragould, Ark., Carmen picked cotton with her family before running away at 13.

"I was just a little country girl that wanted to be a movie star," she told the Orange County Register in 1996.

Carmen was still a teenager when she came to New York and, despite having no show business experience, immediately became a dancer in a Broadway show called "Burlesque," with comic Burt Lahr.

She later went into modeling, gaining a measure of success with a series of cheesecake shots in men's magazines. One gig turned into a new career as a trick golfer. On tour with golfer Jack Redmond, she would perform stunts such as hitting a ball out of a man's mouth.

Carmen claimed that she later hustled golfers with Las Vegas mobster Johnny Roselli.

She came to Hollywood while still in her 20s, where she appeared in low-budget movies with such titles as "Guns Don't Argue" and "The Monster of Piedras Blancas."

Carmen also claimed to have had affairs with Sinatra and other celebrities.

She moved to Orange County in 1978.

In addition to her son, Carmen is survived by daughters Melinda Belli and Kellee Jade Campo, and three grandchildren.

this was my dita von teese/pinup halloween look......not sure why i insisted on this face all night, i guess it just went with the costume :) on the bottom i had on thigh highs, kinda hard to see though. i made the skirt because i didnt wanna wear satin booty shorts! then the second and third pics you can see my makeup and hair better. i had a cute rhinestone clip holding my hair back, and for my makeup i did a cat eye and fake lashes on the outer third of my lid.

This is my pin-up girl costume from Halloween last year, it's easy to put the pieces together to get the look that you want. Corset i found on Ebay ; Shorts are spandex ; Fishnets ; Peep toe heels ; Some victory rolls in the hair ; And a flower from hobby lobby hot glued onto a bobby pin ; And plenty of accessories! Easy way to do a pin-up girl.

Megan Fox says she has another role already in mind – that of a mother. "No one believes me when I talk about this, but I'm really maternal," Fox, 23, tells W magazine for its March issue, due on newsstands this week. But she adds: "I worry that because I've always wanted [kids] so much, as the world goes sometimes, I won't be able to have them, even though I would be able to provide them with such an amazing environment." The sexy actress also reveals her fears about her fellow females in Hollywood."I don't trust people in this industry, but I especially don't trust girls in this industry, because it's incredibly competitive, and I'm just not interested," she says. Fox says that she's insecure about her own acting and modeling abilities, despite the success of the Transformers movies and her recent deal to become the new face of Emporio Armani underwear and jeans. "My main weakness is nerves," she says of her acting. "I have no confidence, and because of that I'm always second-guessing myself." Of modeling, she adds: "I feel intimidated by fashion. I hate doing photo shoots." One thing she is pretty confident about: Her sex appeal as an Armani model. "There are some women you could put in underwear and photograph them, and it looks really classy and it doesn't necessarily provoke a pinup image," she says. "But with me it does, immediately, as soon as I'm in underwear. I'm a Vargas girl," she adds, referring to Alberto Vargas, the famed Peruvian painter of pin-up girls.
