From Jezebel
Earlier today, a NYC CBS affiliate ran a news segment about the plus-size segment of the fashion industry. For those who have been living under a rock for the past few months (or not reading this site) the current recession is affecting the once growing industry of women's plus-size clothing.
Companies like Ellen Tracy have eliminated plus sizes, while Bloomingdale's has either reduced or dropped the lines altogether.

The urge to enhance our physical appearance with jewelry is timeless. Every possible part of our body is adorned with jewelry, be it ear rings for the ears, anklets for the ankles or ed hardy belts neckpieces for the necks. We do it not only to enhance physical beauty but also as part of status symbol or for cultural and religious reasons.

The cavernous photography studio in New York City is bustling with fashion assistants, hair and makeup stylists, and models chatting in white terry robes. All typical on a photo shoot, but when the robes come off, you see what's different. Kate Dillon, Ashley Graham, Amy Lemons, Lizzie Miller, Crystal Renn, Jennie Runk and Anansa Sims -- some of the top plus-size models working today -- have beautiful curves, round shoulders, belly rolls and lots of other womanly stuff many of us see when we look in the mirror.

The Federal Election Commission has dismissed a complaint over the $150,000-plus designer wardrobe the Republican Party bought to outfit vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the group that filed the complaint, argued that candidates aren't supposed to use donor money for personal expenses such as clothes. The FEC ruled Tuesday that the ban doesn't apply to party money, however.

By JOYCE WADLER (New York Times)
Published: April 1, 2009
AT a time when life in America is beginning to resemble a roller-coaster ride on the way down and everyone is trying to find ways to save money, it may be instructive — both in terms of offering helpful hints and putting things in perspective — to look at how people ran their households during the Great Depression.
Memories from the Great Depression seem more relevant today than ever. The New York Times is starting a series of video conversations about that painful past and the uncertain future.

Like Liv Tyler's sister and plus-sized model, Mia Tyler (pictured), most girls aren't rail-thin. In fact, many have beautiful, womanly curves! True, models are super-skinny (except for this plus-sized model who walked the Jean Paul Gaultier catwalk for Paris Fashion Week) but they have people commanding them to stop eating, to eat less, to not eat.

My sister was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductile Breast Cancer approximately two weeks ago (it seems like a blur so I cannot remember the exact date she called up and she she had just found out). She just found out she has Triple Negative Breast Cancer, which means a long course of chemotherapy with treatments of radiation.
What I need to know is how do I help (or organize/resolve) the practical day to day and monthly issues that a homeowner and head of household has to deal with?

Eating breakfast regularly helps build healthy bodies.
Did you know that a smart breakfast that includes foods from all five food groups can supply ¼ of your child’s daily nutrient requirements? No wonder it’s regarded as the most important meal of the day.
