Obama takes sharp turn on foreign policy
By Bridget Johnson, 03/09/09 (THE HILL)
Lost in the cacophony of the economic crisis is the issue on which the candidate Barack Obama promised to effect some of the most change: foreign policy.
And yet, as Obama’s presidential term has buzzed with bailouts, stimulus, the budget and now healthcare reform, his administration has been steadily pressing forward with its plans to “reboot” relationships and distance itself from goals and tactics of the Bush years.
"Look at general things that have been done," Robert Hunter, NATO ambassador under President Clinton and now a senior adviser at RAND Corp., told The Hill.

Eirie, Pa: Former President George W. Bush fired a salvo at President Obama on Wednesday, asserting his administration's interrogation policies were within the law, declaring the private sector not government will fix the economy and rejecting the nationalization of health care.
"I know it's going to be the private sector that leads this country out of the current economic times we're in," the former president said to applause from members of a local business group.

ON THE WHITE HOUSE
The Words Have Changed, but Have the Policies?
By PETER BAKER (New York Times)
Published: April 2, 2009

Angelina Jolie caused a media circus at a recent Iraq Policy event in Washington, DC. The controversial (at least at this site) actress appeared on a discussion panel to urge the increase of humanitarian aid to the country and to encourage the U.S. government to make good on its commitment to absorb a greater number of Iraqi refugees.

Going by the information obtained during a recent survey conducted the British Insurance Brokers Association, (or BIBA), small business owners could be taking great risks with their businesses. When questioned during the survey, many of the SMEs admitted that they had failed to get proper advice regarding commercial insurance cover.
The subject of commercial insurance cover is a complicated one and many businesses don’t seem to recognise the difference between merely receiving information and receiving advice.

In what may not be a big surprise, a business provider reports that the vast majority of small and medium sized businesses in Britain lack the right business insurance.
.The business insurance provider has also revealed that most people in the business community believe that most small businesses are overlooking the range of small business insurance policies and are needlessly putting themselves at risk.
/>“When starting a business, particularly if you are starting in a new industry or profession, insurance is the one of the easiest things to forget,” said a spokeswoman.
