I was at the post office today and realized first class stamps are going up a penny in three weeks. Check the USPS news updates to keep track of this stuff (http://www.usps.com/prices/welcome.htm?from=bannercommunications&page=prices). All you people planning weddings right now need to keep track of the rate increases.

With the Democrats getting slaughtered -- or should I say, "receiving mandatory end-of-life counseling" -- in the debate over national health care, the Obama administration has decided to change the subject by indicting CIA interrogators for talking tough to three of the world's leading Muslim terrorists.
Had I been asked, I would have advised them against reinforcing the idea that Democrats are hysterical bed-wetters who can't be trusted with national defense while also reminding people of the one thing everyone still admires about President George W. Bush.

Do you have books you've read and movies you've watched that are now collecting dust? Trade them in for new ones to you. This is a great green way to recycle books and DVDs.

The Cap and Tax Fiction (Unsigned Wall Street Journal Opinion Piece)
Democrats off-loading economics to pass climate change bill
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has put cap-and-trade legislation on a forced march through the House, and the bill may get a full vote as early as Friday. It looks as if the Democrats will have to destroy the discipline of economics to get it done.
Despite House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman's many payoffs to Members, rural and Blue Dog Democrats remain wary of voting for a bill that will impose crushing costs on their home-district businesses and consumers.

Monk Phra Bunphithak Jomthong entered the U.S. four years ago on a religious visa and has since devoted himself to serving a burgeoning Buddhist community in Southern California. Barefoot and clad in a saffron robe, Mr. Jomthong recently gave what amounts to the most accurate job description he has: "to share Buddhist practices and to promote peace and harmony among people."

Ever wonder about those people who spend $2.00 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backwards: NAIVE!
Isn't making a smoking section in a restaurant like making a peeing section in a swimming pool?

'Atlas Shrugged': From Fiction to Fact in 52 Years
By STEPHEN MOORE (Wall Street Journa,l JANUARY 9, 2009)
Some years ago when I worked at the libertarian Cato Institute, we used to label any new hire who had not yet read "Atlas Shrugged" a "virgin." Being conversant in Ayn Rand's classic novel about the economic carnage caused by big government run amok was practically a job requirement. If only "Atlas" were required reading for every member of Congress and political appointee in the Obama administration.
