Alessandra Corine Ambrσsio was born in a small town of Erexim,Brazil on April 11, 1981 to petrol station-owner parents. She is of Italian and Polish descent.[9][4] She was just eight years old when she decided she wanted to be a model, after seeing a picture of top covergirl Karen Mulder in a magazine. "I wanted to be like her," she recalls.[4] However, she felt insecure about her appearance, particularly of her large, obvious ears.

For Project Runway contestants, making it to the final group that shows at New York's Fashion Weeks is nearly as good as winning the whole dang thing. Sure, the hopeful designers would probably love the cash that goes along with the prize – although first season winner Jay McCarroll turned it down in order to avoid the attached strings – but the chance to show a collection in front of the fashion cognoscenti? Potentially priceless.

It was to be expected that when Project Runway moved to Los Angeles, the show would feature more celebrities. Heidi Klum once said that Hollywood has had a major influence on the world of fashion. We're three episodes in, and there have been three celebrity guest judges: Lindsay Lohan served as guest judge on the first episode, Rebecca Romijn was the subject of the episode two's maternity challenge, and last night, Rachel Bilson gave her two cents on the surf-wear challenge.

Good news for those Siriano worshippers wondering when his pieces are going to go on sale on Bluefly.com. Last Wednesday was the day it hit Bluefly.com and there are currently 4 different looks online right now. I love how he named the gray jersey "Transylvania".

Legal Tangles of ‘Project Runway’ Keep It Frozen on the Catwalk

LOS ANGELES — At a time when audiences are shrinking for almost every type of television program, it stands to reason that producers and network executives would do almost anything to keep on the air a series whose audience is actually growing.
Which makes it all the more perplexing that “Project Runway,” the popular reality competition in which aspiring fashion designers face off with their clothing creations, should be stuck in a legal quagmire that threatens to keep the show off the air indefinitely. In its first five seasons on the Bravo cable channel, “Project Runway” increased its average audience to 4 million viewers an episode from 1 million an episode, making the most recent season its biggest ever.

Last week, we told you how Jennifer Lopez ducked out of her appearance as a guest judge on the season finale of “Project Runway” at the last minute, citing a foot injury. Well, this alleged foot injury - which her trainer denied - didn’t stop her from successfully completing a triathlon for charity over the weekend. Kudos to her for that feat.

www.movieweb.com has a (slightly odd) interview from the producer of Project Runway (and Top Chef).
The busy producer talks about making this unique film as well as her work on Top Chef and Project Runway
Jane Lipsitz is a woman with a lot going on. In addition to having two hits like Top Chef and Project Runway (as well as Emmy nominations for these shows) on the air, not to mention a bevy of projects in development, Lipsitz found time to produce her sister, Alexandra's documentary, Air Guitar Nation.
