My friend, Mukesh works in Dallas and alerted me to this so I thought I would share. He had sent a writeup in email, however it wasn't sourced, so I googled to find a source. I am including that source to substantiate what he told me was on the ballots, however, I will note that I am only posting the actual 5 propositions on the ballot, and not the commentary provided by the source since it is written as an opinion piece. If you want to see what the source had to say, feel free to click away. If I find another, less opinionated source that explains the propositions, I will edit and add it in later.
The Texas Republican Primary Ballots contains 5 Ballot propositions that are not being included on the Democractic Primary Ballots. They are as follows:
Ballot Proposition #1: Photo ID
The Texas Legislature should make it a priority to protect the integrity of our election process by enacting legislation that requires voters to provide valid photo identification in order to cast a ballot in any and all elections conducted in the State of Texas.
Ballot Proposition #2: Controlling Government Growth
Every government body in Texas should be required to limit any annual increase in its budget and spending to the combined increase of population and inflation unless it first gets voter approval to exceed the allowed annual growth or in the case of an official emergency.

A Wake County middle school teacher has been suspended following complaints about disparaging comments she made about her class, Christianity and Southern culture on her Facebook page.
Melissa Hussain, an eighth-grade teacher at West Lake Middle School in Apex, wrote on her Facebook page that it was a “hate crime” that students left a Bible on her desk and how she “was able to shame her kids” over the incident. Her Facebook page included comments from friends saying that the parents of Hussain’s students were “bigoted, stupid and uncaring.”
Some parents were angry that she was allowed to stay in the classroom, leading them to complain to school board members on Friday.

The mortality rate of California women who die from causes directly related to pregnancy has tripled in the past decade, prompting doctors to worry about the dangers of obesity in expectant mothers and about medical complications of Caesarean sections.
For the past seven months, the state Department of Public Health has declined to release a report outlining the trend. Investigators who wrote the report, however, confirmed it shows the most significant spike in pregnancy-related deaths since the 1930s.

UN climate panel shamed by bogus rainforest claim
A STARTLING report by the United Nations climate watchdog that global warming might wipe out 40% of the Amazon rainforest was based on an unsubstantiated claim by green campaigners who had little scientific expertise.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said in its 2007 benchmark report that even a slight change in rainfall could see swathes of the rainforest rapidly replaced by savanna grassland.
The source for its claim was a report from WWF, an environmental pressure group, which was authored by two green activists.

I'm not even sure if anyone pops into this group any longer, but I figured I'd post anyway!
OK, OK. So, I realize I'm about five years behind in reading this book. I've read a few other of Sedaris' books and I'm never clamoring to read another, but I never don't want to read another, either. So, when my mom received this one as a Christmas gift and finished it pretty quickly, I snatched it up, thinking it would be a good choice to read on my short bus rides to and from work.
And, it was perfect for that purpose. Sedaris' stories are easily digestable, witty, and fun to read. But, as always, the collection of short stories wasn't a book I couldn't put down; it didn't leave me wanting more. Additionally, I found some stories more intriguing or more colorfully told than others. Sedaris' voice is certainly unique and well-crafted. Sometimes he comes off as jovial and fun; sometimes he seems slightly superior. Overall, I'd recommend this book, but I wouldn't strongly recommend it.
