Madonna has defended superstar pal Tom Cruise against criticism of his Scientology faith, insisting he is a “good person” and should be allowed to worship whatever he likes.
The singer, a follower of Jewish offshoot the Kabbalah, claims it is nobody’s business what religion people choose to follow.
She tells New York magazine, “I don’t care if people worship turtles or frogs - if they’re good people, that’s all I care about, and he (Cruise) is a good person.

WebMD Health News Reviewed by Louise Chang, MDJuly 9, 2008 -- The CDC today warned that people at high risk of severe cases of salmonella infection -- infants, the elderly, and people with weak immune systems -- should not eat raw jalapeno peppers or raw serrano peppers because of the ongoing salmonella outbreak.
"Other persons who want to reduce their risk of salmonella infection can take similar precautions," Robert Tauxe, MD, MPH, deputy director of the FDA's Division of Foodborne, Bacterial, and Mycotic Diseases, said today at a news conference.
That doesn't mean that tomatoes are off the hook.

China brands US ‘protectionist’

China on Friday accused the US of protectionist and biased trade policies less than a week before president Barack Obama’s first visit to Beijing.
In a stinging rebuke to Washington, China’s commerce ministry promised to take measures to protect its domestic industry after the US slapped anti-dumping duties on $2.6bn of Chinese steel pipe imports. The duties are part of a growing roster of trade conflicts between the two countries, despite a high-level meeting last week in China aimed at reducing tensions.
