I just finished a couple of books: Angels and Demons, Suze Orman's 2009 Action Plan, and Not Just a Pretty Face.
My next book on my list right now is Rich Dad's Increase Your Financial IQ: Get Smarter with Your Money by Robert Kiyosaki and after that I have nothing else to read. These are all pretty heavy so I'm looking to read something lighthearted.

Vapo Rub not recommended for infants
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., -- A U.S. study suggests the popular
cold treatment Vicks Vapo Rub may create respiratory prob-
lems for infants and small children. The study by Wake
Forest University Baptist Medical Center, published in the
journal Chest, found the menthol compound may stimulate
mucus production and airway inflammation, which can have
severe effects on infants or young children because of the
small size of their airways.

Prosecutors are recommending a three-year prison sentence for Wesley Snipes for tax evasion, according to a court filing released – appropriately – on Tuesday, tax day.
Per the papers, filed by U.S. Attorney Robert O’Neill, the actor also ought to pay a $5 million fine for his “brazen defiance” of tax laws that cheated the government out of $41 million.

Laughing Without an Accent: Adventures of a Global Citizen (Paperback)
by Firoozeh Dumas
I'm pretty exhausted but I wanted to do this before I hit the sheets. I bought this book at a bookstore at the airport in Houston, while waiting out my two hour layover and I just couldn't put it down and read the rest of it on the remaining flight to Florida. It's only about 250 pages so it's a relatively short read. This was my first time hearing of this author and I picked up mainly because the title grabbed at me. The author discuss about what's it's like living as in Iranian in America through her funny storytelling and her anecdotes about her parents, her raising her family, and their eccentrities that I think we can all appreciate.

I'm coming off a long dry spell of not reading very much at all -- my schedule hasn't allowed it -- and I'm really eager to go to the bookstore or library and make up for lost time. I've got my eye on Robert Parker's new book High Profile, and Lawrence Block's Lucky at Cards, so I am good on mystery/suspense for the moment.
What can people recommend to me for good new science fiction and fantasy (or even old science fiction and fantasy)?

Forget the supernatural: In Kristen Stewart's next project, the New Moon star is taking a deeply human turn, playing a troubled teenager in the indie flick The Yellow Handkerchief, due in theaters in February. Costarring William Hurt, Mario Bello and Eddie Redmayne, the movie explores the relationships between three strangers who embark on a road trip through post-Katrina Louisiana. Stewart plays Martine, a teen who hopes to escape her family, while Hurt plays Brett Hanson, a man who has to choose between his ex-wife (played by Bello) or what's next."The part of Kristen in Twilight is completely different from the one she plays in The Yellow Handkerchief, which is particularly interesting for Kristen's fans all over the world," says the film's Oscar winning producer Arthur Cohn.

Even if skin care products usually do not give nutrients deep into the actual living cells under the superficial layers of the skin, the Vitamin E in several products is actually beneficial. Researchers have found that by using antioxidants to the skin, free radical damage that would usually happen through exposure to sunlight, can be avoided or at least lessened. Vitamin E is a well known component in many skin care creams of Netalab. The scientist proved that the protective effects of Vitamin E from that time of UV exposure were seen 2-3 days later.

The battle among Republicans over what the party should stand for — and how much it should accommodate dissenting views on important issues — is probably going to move from the states to the Republican National Committee when it holds its winter meeting this January in Honolulu.
Republican leaders are circulating a resolution listing 10 positions Republican candidates should support to demonstrate that they “espouse conservative principles and public policies” that are in opposition to “Obama’s socialist agenda.” According to the resolution, any Republican candidate who broke with the party on three or more of these issues– in votes cast, public statements made or answering a questionnaire – would be penalized by being denied party funds or the party endorsement.
The proposed resolution was signed by 10 Republican national committee members and was distributed on Monday morning.
