"I was a pretty good history student," the actor told PEOPLE Monday night at the premiere of HBO's John Adams, which he executive produced. "But mostly in high school I majored in hanging out and flirting with girls."

I'm a huge, and I mean huge fan of Office Space, so when I found out that writer/director Mike Judge had made another movie, I couldn't wait to see it. Like Office Space, Idiocracy was only given a very limited release by the studio, and the studio did next to nothing to promote the film. I don't believe that Idiocracy will reach the cult comedy status of its predecessor, however.

Hanks is offering one lucky fan the chance to act opposite his wife Rita Wilson in a performance of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
The double Oscar winner has teamed up with the eBay Giving Works organization and will auction off the chance to land a speaking role in the play when it airs as part of the Shakespeare Festival L.A. on May 19th.

Tom Hanks’ feud with an Idaho builder is continuing to cause tension between the two parties, after the Hollywood actor hired an armed guard to keep an eye on the contractor.
The Castaway star and his wife Rita Wilson recently lost an attempt to sue Gary Storey, the owner of Storey Construction, for $2.5 million over claims the builder messed up renovations on their $10 million home in Sun Valley, Idaho in 2002.
The case was thrown out of court because the couple had already taken the accused to arbitration in 2003, and lost.

Newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were among the high-profile guests at Ellen DeGeneres's 50th birthday bash in Southern California over the weekend.
The party, held on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank (where DeGeneres is now taping her show, after having moved from the nearby NBC studios), was set up like a carnival – complete with 10-ft.

Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson and Nia Vardalos, the star of their hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding production, are set to go to trial to fight for money they claim they’re owed.
The trio co-produced the 2002 movie and maintain their co-financiers at Gold Circle Films still owe them a share of the profits.
The ongoing lawsuit was referred to mediation on Monday and Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos set a court date for 20 January (09) just in case the trio’s mediation battle fails.

Tom Hanks says he is quitting directing to concentrate on his family. He admits that it takes too much time away from his family.
His most recent work consists of directing the film A Wilderness of Monkeys, which will be released some time later this year.
