Romijn 36, and Jerry O’Connell, 34, got married last July 14th, and the pair have recently started telling friends that they’re trying for a baby. Star reports that Romijn is excited to eat whatever she wants and get fat, while O’Connell is already picking out baby names.

Rebecca Romijn [has] told pals she’s dying to get “fat as a sow and all knocked up” - and hubby Jerry O’Connell’s just happy they’re really really trying now. Said a friend: “Jerry’s already window-shopping baby stuff online and keeps peppering her with baby names!” But while Rebecca’s thrilled at the idea of piggin’ out on whatever she wants, she knows there’s a professional downside - it might be tough to return pregnant for a third season on Ugly Betty because she plays a transsexual.

Considering there was a pregnant man on Oprah (I think he ended up being a pre-op transsexual) you’d think there could be a way for the Ugly Betty writers to spin a pregnancy if they wanted to. Or they could always just hide it.

Rebecca Romijn is currently starring in Lake City, which premieres this Friday at the Tribeca Film Festival, and is already getting good buzz. Hopefully she and Jerry will get their wish and she’ll be hiding a pregnancy very soon.

Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell, who celebrated their first wedding anniversary July 14, are not expecting a baby – yet!

"We're trying to get pregnant," the actor told PEOPLE Saturday at the Playboy Mansion, where he stepped out for Much Love Animal Rescue's 2nd annual Bow Wow Wow event in Los Angeles. "It would be amazing if it happened. I hope it does."

O'Connell, who says trying to get pregnant is "a lot of fun," brought along the couple's dogs Taco and Better who he called "our babies."

"It's just such a great feeling you get when you rescue an animal," he said. "They’re eternally grateful and they really trust you and they're just the best.”

Besides, he said, "Pets are training for kids."

Though the couple spent their first wedding anniversary apart – she was in New York and he was in L.A. – O'Connell says their time apart may actually help their relationship.

I know a lot of people who are totally hooked on True Blood, and they were all thrilled when one of the show’s stars, Kristen Bauer, got married. In fact, Kristen Bauer even got help from the show’s wardrobe stylist to select her Alberta Ferretti wedding gown!
There were so many other celebrity brides I wanted to include, such as Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Zooey Deschanel, and Katherine Heigl… I hope to be half as lovely as any of them on my own wedding day! Do You Like the Heavy Celeb Presence on Project Runway?

It was to be expected that when Project Runway moved to Los Angeles, the show would feature more celebrities. Heidi Klum once said that Hollywood has had a major influence on the world of fashion. We're three episodes in, and there have been three celebrity guest judges: Lindsay Lohan served as guest judge on the first episode, Rebecca Romijn was the subject of the episode two's maternity challenge, and last night, Rachel Bilson gave her two cents on the surf-wear challenge. PR has had celebrity guest judges in the past, but now it's become a regular component of the show. So I want to know, do you like the heavy celeb presence on PR?

In PEOPLE’s latest issue, Jerry O’Connell - proud dad to fraternal twin daughters Charlie Tamara Tulip and Dolly Rebecca Rose - gives readers a peek into his life at home with the girls, 8 months.
Sharing personal photos snapped by the actor and wife Rebecca Romijn, Jerry discusses being a stay at home dad and learning to love pink.

I grew up with all boys in my family, where there was no place for girlie stuff.
But it’s amazing to walk into my house now.
Everything is pink!
When we first brought Dolly and Charlie home, Rebecca would say, “We’re going out, let’s put them in this dress.”
At first I thought it was impractical.
They’re going to poop and throw up in it anyway.
What’s the point?
But now I understand dressing girls: Kelly Ripa gave us the nicest girlie dresses.
They’re their go-to fancy wear - they’re so fancy, I can only wash them in Woolite!

When they were being photographed for InStyle, I found myself brushing their hair.
Now that there’s a little more to work with, I can experiment just a bit more. Listen to me, I sound like Paul Mitchell! I can do mini-pigtails on Charlie, and on Dolly I can get barrettes in her hair.
One of my favorite things is putting them in their carriage, walking them around, and having people stop me and saying, “Tell me about your girls.”
Charlie likes to interact with people, and Dolly likes to study things.
There’s something fun about it. It’s like having a new car except it’s two lives. I’m proud.

Rebecca wants one of us to be home with the kids at all times. So while she’s working, I’ve been at home, and it’s been really fun.
My wife likes to give them milk when they wake up, but I’ve made some changes to the system. I like to let them play and then give them solid food.
I get in a lot of trouble, but I feed them in front of the TV with Sesame Street. They love it.
At bedtime I softly sing rap songs like Slick Rick or Biggie Smalls - without the curse words. I have favorite little bedtime nighties I put them in that say, “I love Project Runway.”
It’s a different experience to be with your kids when your spouse isn’t around. We have an area where they play; I go in there, and they climb all over me like two pet monkeys.
We have three dogs, if I act like one of the dogs with the dogs, they go crazy - we’re talking Richard Pryor in his heyday. I’ve never had people laugh at me so hard.
I think of myself as a funny guy but nobody thinks I’m funnier than my daughters. Whenever I try to scold them - if I’m feeding them and they put their hands in the food bowl, or when they’re pulling each other’s hair - they think it’s the funniest thing in the world.
There’s no better feeling than making your little girls laugh.

When you have little girls, you’re the coolest person in the world.
I know at some point that’s going to end; in their adolescence I’ll become the opposite of that, especially if I’m parked outside a high school party.
When that time comes, I’m going to read up on Judy Blume, rent some Molly Ringwald films and watch Twilight.
The amazing thing about all this is that it ends at some point.
My wife said, “The factory is closed.”
That’s not a lie. The factory is closed! You can’t make anything else.
You just have to appreciate every moment.
