I couldn’t wait to see this film in theaters- I wanted to see it the second it came out but was so busy that I didn’t get to it until a few days after Christmas. My love and anticipation for this film is a little odd- I’m a big Johnny Depp fan, and a HUGE Tim Burton fan, but really it was the Sweeney Todd part that drew me in.
Before I saw this film, everything I knew about Sweeney Todd I learned from Jersey Girl.

Buzz posted the Oscar noms, which were announced this morning, but I figured I'd repost them here, for sake of conversation.
I am SO happy about some of these nods, especially:
Javier Bardem for supporting actor - TOTALLY deserves it and will probably win
Ellen Page for lead actress - she probably won't win but yay for her anyway
Juno for best picture - again, it's the underdog and probably won't win, but what an achievement
"Falling Slowly" from Once for best song - I really, really hope this wins over the songs from Enchantment.
Diablo Cody for the Juno screenplay - I think she's going to win for best original.

Broadway came out swinging Sunday night for the 62nd annual Tony Awards, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg.
August: Osage County was named best play and won five awards in all, while In the Heights was the recipient of four Tonys, including best musical.
Besides the top award, In the Heights, a celebration of Latin-community life in Upper Manhattan, was recognized for its orchestration, choreography and score, with its writer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, stopping the show with his acceptance speech – delivered, in breathtaking fashion, as a rap song.

In March of ‘07 Johnny Depp’s seven-year-old daughter Lily-Rose was rushed to hospital with E.coli blood poisoning, and stayed for nine days before she made a full recovery. Johnny Depp has spoken of her illness, telling Entertainment Weekly “To say it was the darkest moment, that’s nothing.” He also said every milli-second of having his daughter well was like a celebration. Now he’s truly celebrated with the staff who took care of her at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
