LONDON - International cancer experts have moved tanning beds and other sources of ultraviolet radiation into the top cancer risk category, deeming them as deadly as arsenic and mustard gas.
For years, scientists have described tanning beds and ultraviolet radiation as "probable carcinogens."
A new analysis of about 20 studies concludes the risk of skin cancer jumps by 75 percent when people start using tanning beds before age 30.

Sun tanning tips :
1.If beginning your sun tanning routine during peak summer, begin with only 10 or 15 minutes of exposure to the sun or a tanning lamp to acclimatize your skin to the heat and gradually increase the time as your body becomes more tanned.
2.Remember to choose the right sunscreen with an SPF factor of under 15, but no less than 8 so that you get the minimum necessary protection while taking care not to de-limit your bodily benefits from being sunny side up!
3.Take care to ensure that your skin is moisturized with after-sun lotion; opting for a lotion that contains aloe will help make your tan last and also cool the skin since aloe is rich in skin soothing properties.

1. Protect with PLE – If you are concerned about the effects of sun damage on the skin, consider taking an oral supplement that offers photo-protection, such as polypodium leucotomas extract, or PLE. Recent clinical research has found that this extract from a South American fern has powerful antioxidant and photoprotective properties.

A little long, but worth reviewing every Summer, I think :
It doesn't take much time in the sun for most people to get the vitamin D they need, and unprotected exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays can cause skin damage, eye damage, immune system suppression, and even cancer. Even people in their twenties can develop skin cancer....
Most kids rack up between 50% and 80% of their lifetime sun exposure before age 18, so it's important that parents teach their children how to enjoy fun in the sun safely.

Christina Aguilera’s husband Jordan Bratman reportedly wants his wife to ditch the fake tan.

And here is the second half of the make-up history from the blog I posted the other day
Fifties Glamour With Max Factor
In the 1950s colour films made an enormous impact on cosmetics. The huge cinema screens illuminated the unblemished appearance of stars and caused the make up artist Max Factor to invent an everyday version of the foundation he used called “Pan Cake”. This was a makeup to gloss over skin imperfections.

I love irony. Speaking of which, always perma-tanned-to-the ugliest-shade-of-orange-you’ve-ever-seen-in-your-life Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has joined forces with designer Marc Jacobs to create an anti-skin cancer t-shirt for the Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group. Wait, this isn’t irony so much as it is hypocrisy.

Anderson is most famous for being incredibly dumb. Well, I guess that’s what she’s second most famous for. But dumb as she is, Anderson is still shrewd enough to know that she isn’t aging all that gracefully, at least by Hollywood’s definition.
