Ever-Present Cameras Aid Investigators, Catch Rogue Cops
By ANDRA VARIN
AOL News
(July 21) -- When Agnes Lawless was arrested on charges of assaulting a Philadelphia police officer, she protested that it was the cop who had attacked her. He grabbed her from behind and thrust a gun against her neck, she said.
Three of Lawless' friends and a convenience store clerk backed her story, but the judge was inclined to believe the officer -- until the video surfaced.

I found this on the Press of Atlantic City. My personal comment (sarcastically, of course)..... it must be nice to do all of these unethical, immoral and illegal acts, and then retire with benefits and not face prosecution.

Last week, when Jamie Lynn Spears flew from Louisiana to Los Angeles to visit her sister Britney and attend the birthday party of her two nephews, Sean Preston and Jayden, LAX Airport police helped the young mom avoid the paparazzi crush by setting up a decoy operation. Apparently, another passenger on the plane bore a resemblance to Jamie Lynn, and she volunteered to pose as her at LAX, distracting the growing crowd of photogs assembling inside the terminal. Meanwhile, the real Jamie Lynn, along with her infant daughter Maddie and her mom, were escorted by cops off the tarmac, avoiding throngs of photographers.

It's easy enough to leave the keys in your car - but the consequences can be a good deal more embarrassing if you're a police officer ... especially if the suspect you're after finds them before you.
That's what happened in Sydney last night when two officers saw a stolen silver Toyota driving erratically on Parramatta Road in Strathfield.

Right now there is a bill before Congress, specifically HR 675 which will make amendments to title 10 of the United States Code. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with title 10, title 10 is the section of the US Code that deals with the military. HR 675 could be a back door around Posse Comitatus.

US Supreme Court says passenger can be frisked
January 26, 2009
WASHINGTON—The Supreme Court ruled Monday that police officers have leeway to frisk a passenger in a car stopped for a traffic violation even if nothing indicates the passenger has committed a crime or is about to do so.
The court on Monday unanimously overruled an Arizona appeals court that threw out evidence found during such an encounter.
The case involved a 2002 pat-down search of an Eloy, Ariz., man by an Oro Valley police officer, who found a gun and marijuana.

SEATON CAREW, England - Was he a victim of amnesia or a con artist who tried to fake his death to collect life insurance?
Whatever the answer, Britain is captivated by the tale of how John Darwin vanished after paddling into the North Sea in a canoe, was declared dead when its wreckage washed ashore, then turned up five years later at a police station claiming to have lost his memory.
Investigators suspect fraud: They arrested the 57-year-old former prison officer Wednesday on suspicion he faked his death so his wife could cash in on his insurance policy and move to Panama.

George Phillips, an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked 'Is someone in your house?'

The police officers who stopped Oklahoma City motorist Chip Harrison and confiscated a sign from his car told him he has a right to his beliefs, but the U.S. Secret Service "could construe this as a threat against President Obama," according to the incident report released this morning.
The sign, which read "Abort Obama Not the Unborn," was returned to Harrison later that day, the report said.
