NEW YORK - With the presidential polls just over a month away, tens of thousands of U.S. war veterans are still wondering whether or not they will be able to vote for the candidate of their choice.
About 100,000 former soldiers who are currently residing in government-run facilities can no longer vote because they cannot register without assistance from volunteers due to disabilities and serious illnesses.

My son's Boy Scout Troop went to Cape Henlopen, DE this past weekend (11/7 - 11/9). While they were there, they learned about Fort Miles, in Delaware. This is a good story, which was perfectly on time for Veterans' Day.

I thought it would be nice if we all shared who the Veteran's in our lives are.
Also these are my favorite Veteran charities:
Fischer House Veterans Charity
The Fischer House Veterans Charity got an "A+" from the veterans charities watchdog group. Its main goal is to provide homes for families to stay at if they are visiting veterans receiving care at VA hospitals or military medical centers.

The coal front group American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity has been in hot water lately for employing an astroturf group that forged letters to Congress opposing the House climate bill—and then for possibly lying under oath about their position. Now ACCCE is in trouble again—for misrepresenting the views of two major veterans groups in an email hyping coal's role in energy security.
The email, sent in anticipation of Veterans' Day, argues that coal can play a vital role in reducing America's dependence on foreign oil and cites two groups—VoteVets and Operation Free.

Some veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in their eye.
Others may carry the evidence inside them: a pin holding a bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg - or perhaps another sort of inner steel: a soul forged in the refinery of adversity.
Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem.

This is a re-post of my original article with a few modification...you may find the original in my forum: Stand Up 4 Veterans
Yesterday our country spend a lot of time and effort mourning the life of a celebrity...a celebrity which the media constantly changed its view...seeing him as much a villain as a philanthropist and entertainer. Because of the tremendous focus on this individual a controversy arose--comparing the price of this person's life to that of a soldier. This is my reply to such thoughts...

Every day a United States Veteran walks into a college administrative office to have their military education transcripts evaluated and they are offered in return only credit for PE.
Colleges all over America are allowed to decide for themselves whether or not to give a veteran credit for classes taken while serving in our military.
I am here today to pull back the veil of silence which has strangled the ambitions of our veterans that have fought for this country, our freedom, and are merely asking for what they have earned.
