Jackie Kennedy inspired the fashion of an entire generation of women, starting with her wedding gown. She didn’t trust her own taste, which was simple yet elegant, so her mother chose the dress-maker, Ann Lowe of New York.

2. Grace Kelly

Long before she wed a prince, Grace Kelly was the epitome of style and elegance. She was certainly one of the most beautiful brides, her dress a one-of-a-kind design by Academy-Award winning designer Helen Rose. To make the dress, Rose used thousands of the tiniest pearls, 25 yards of silk taffeta, 100 yards of silk net, and 125-year-old rose-point lace bought from a museum.

3. Princess Diana of Wales

750 million other people worldwide to watch Lady Diana Spencer marry her prince charming in 1981. She was everything that was demure and lady-like, and I loved her fluffy fairy-tale dress. The dress was an ivory taffeta creation by Elizabeth Emmanuel, with antique lace and an amazing 25-foot train.

4. Rebecca Romijn

When she wed actor Jerry O’Connell, the gorgeous ex-Victoria’s Secret model and actress wore a beautiful creamy lace Ralph Lauren spaghetti-strap gown paired with gold Sergio Rossi heels, a gold bracelet and multi-colored diamond chandelier earrings by Neil Lane.

5. Fergie

Natural-looking, glowing, and gorgeous! Fergie wore not one but two gowns by Dolce & Gabbana, one formal one for the ceremony, and a shorter version for the reception. She wore both gowns with a simple diamond tear-drop necklace and diamond lizard cuff bracelet by H. Stern, who also designed her and her new husband, John Duhamel’s, wedding bands.

6. Nicole Kidman

I’ve always considered Nicole Kidman to be a modern Grace Kelly, all elegance and class, with just a little edge to her unique style. To tie the knot with country star Keith Urban, she wore a marvelous empire-waist one-shouldered Balenciaga gown.

7. Ashlee Simpson

When Ashlee married her rocker-sweetheart Pete Wentz, they got creative and chose an Alice in Wonderland theme. For the ceremony, officiated by her father, Ashlee wore a cathedral-length veil and a gorgeous ivory lace Monique Lhuillier gown.

8. Natasha Bedingfield

Songstress Natasha Bedingfield looked so beautiful and happy on her wedding day! Designer Vera Wang designed a wedding dress just for her… and I love the sash!

9. Milla Jovovich

She designed her Grecian-style mini-dress herself, and exchanged wedding bands designed by Neil Lane. I love her unique headpiece, too… she looks like a goddess!

10. Kristin Bauer

I know a lot of people who are totally hooked on True Blood, and they were all thrilled when one of the show’s stars, Kristen Bauer, got married. In fact, Kristen Bauer even got help from the show’s wardrobe stylist to select her Alberta Ferretti wedding gown!
There were so many other celebrity brides I wanted to include, such as Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Zooey Deschanel, and Katherine Heigl… I hope to be half as lovely as any of them on my own wedding day! One of the best weddings I've been to in recent memory. My table sat off to the side of the bride and groom, which also happened to be where the cake was on display. This photo is untouched by any software, surprising even myself when I saw the finished product on my screen. A New Hampshire bridal shop owner is making military matrimonial dreams come true today when she hands out 50 free wedding dresses to blushing brides-to-be who are on active duty or engaged to someone serving overseas.

“I didn’t think it was real,” said Rachel Nelson, 21, whose beloved, Marine Sgt. Travis McGlew, served in Afghanistan and is now in Japan. “I was literally shaking.”

Nelson will be front and center today at the Bridal Stock Exchange in Seabrook, N.H., which is giving away the freebie frocks in a show of support for the troops and the people who support them back home.

Nelson, a Simmons College student from Haverhill who is getting married in June, pared down her wedding dress budget to pay for the rest of the event, but now she can really splurge on her big day.

“It made me really happy to know people are realizing that men and women are over there fighting for us, and back home, the family, the fiances, wives and kids, they have a hard job, too. It really touched me.”

Heidi Janson, owner of The Bridal Stock Exchange, said more than a dozen women have asked about the bridal bonanza, taking place today and tomorrow from 4 p.m to 8 p.m. The dresses retail for $600 to $3,000 and come in all styles - strapless to sequins - and in sizes 4 to 22.

Brides must be on active duty or engaged to someone on active duty who is deployed to qualify.

Janson, 43, who lives in North Andover, said she collected the dresses from stores around the country to say thanks to military families.

“We’re all about just doing something good for other people,” said Janson, who also collects used bridesmaid dresses and donates them to charity through her own organization called The Bridesmaid Party.

Over at The Knot, I spotted some AMAZING wedding dresses. Usually when I stalk that site, I promptly click on the trumpet or mermaid silhouette only because I felt they were the best ideas for women whom wanted to look sexy. Nowadays, I'm looking for the classic dress. I'm looking for the ball gown which is the classic, timeless dress. A bit boring for me, but it's the only time a bride can go all out. I'll put the designers underneath the dresses... check 'em out!

am I doing the right thing?

so, Me and my brother have this college friend who is getting married next week. She told us months and moths before and told us that we were absolutely invited.

Buy days before the wedding she finally went to my house with the invite. But told me that because this was going to be a very very small wedding, that she give me the invite to me and told me it was a 2 person invite. So she explain "you can bring your bro or anyone else". She told me it was only because she didn't have enough room in her house, where the reception is going to be.

Basically she un-invited my bro, or didn't invite his girlfriend. The thing is the bride is friends with my brother ex-GF, and we don't know if the un-invitation is because of that.

Because my friend had already invited him, he and his girlfriend make no plans for that day (she even had already what to wear!), and days before, well he's not going because he can't bring her. He is the one who was going to take me, now I don't want to use him like a taxi only.

My plan is to go to the ceremony (the three of us), give our blessings, and then go to have dinner to a fancy place.

Am I doing the right thing? or I am doing this little thing big?

any suggestions?

6/19/08 Wedded Bits Launched, Wedding Bloggers Lunched...And I Found My Own Personal Heaven On The 4th Floor Of The Conde Nast Building!
The Wedding Bloggers Luncheon hosted by Brides.com in honor of their newly launched blog, Wedded Bits!

Recently I received an invitation to attend a wedding bloggers luncheon at the Conde Nast building in New York City, in honor of the Brides.com newly launched blog, “Wedded Bits“! From Chicago, I flew to New York City for my very first time, to attend this fabulous event. There I met editor-in-chief Michelle Preli and her wonderful team from Brides.com, Emily Anderson - author of Eco-Chic Weddings, Angel Sanchez - famous wedding gown designer who designed Eva Longoria's wedding dress, Anne Chertoff of iVillage, and some of my other favorite wedding bloggers. What a treat it was to meet everyone! I wish the Sugars were there...hopefully I'll have the pleasure of meeting them someday too!
