Marc Jacobs Doesn't Enjoy Fashion Week & New Wedding Details!

Despite the fact that his show is easily the biggest event of the entire extravaganza, when asked if he was looking forward to fashion week recently, Marc Jacobs replied with a simple "No," and gave the same answer when asked if he was looking forward to seeing any of the shows. Does he "enjoy" fashion week at all, even? "Enjoy? Enjoy is a weird word. It's work - work is more what it's about." But is it at all fun? "No." On a happier note, though, his wedding to Lorenzo Martone has to at least be enjoyable for him, so don't expect anything big: "[The wedding will be] very quiet, just the two of us. We're keeping it very simple." The designer did reveal, though that it will be happening "soon" in Provicetown, Massachussetts. Best wishes to the both of them!

Actress Penelope cruz has entrusted Mick jagger's designer's girlfriend L 'WREN Scott to create her wedding dress, according to the report. Spain has born the fashion to Utah - queen, who created the unique design, nicole kidman and Madonna, design a fairytale dress to her.

I spent $$$ on a custom-made wedding gown that had to be fitted and shipped halfway across the world. I ended up with a one-of-a-kind dress that didn't-fit-in-more-than-one-place and a mother who said, "I told you so." In hindsight, I would have been much happier with something off the rack, like this dress from J. Crew.
Of course, Milly Havill, the heroine in The Wedding Girl, had the PERFECT dress. Whether she ends up with her perfect man is another story. Be forewarned though, while Madeleine Wickham and Sophie Kinsella are the same person, the books with the Wickham byline are vastly different from the Kinsella ones. Wickham's books are layered, social satire observations, while Kinsella's are straight-up chick lit tomes. Nevertheless, whether she's writing in one voice or another, Wickham/Kinsella is an engaging and exciting storyteller. Like O. Henry and Jeffrey Archer, she has artfully mastered the twist in the tale.

Hi Blushing Brides,
In addition to being a sugar addict, some of you may know that my day job is writing for a wedding website. We are brainstorming for a story about creative things to do with your wedding dress after the Big Day, and we're stumped! So far we have wedding quilts and re-fashioning the dress into something modern for your daughter to wear, but that's it! Did anyone in this group do something particularly chic or canny with their wedding day white? If so, please post below. Thanks!

Summer Wedding Question

I'm not very girly when it comes to shoes (aka: I really don't love them or have a crazy shoe collection or anything). But I am going to a summer wedding this weekend and I'm trying to decide what shoes would be appropriate. The whole thing, ceremony and all, is going to be held in the bride's backyard, which overlooks a lake. They are filling in the entire area with sand so it'll basically be like a beach wedding. Attire is beachy-casual and I've already picked out my dress but I'm just not sure what kind of shoes to wear. I HATE wedges, so is it ok to go with a flat sandal that looks a little dressier?

Thanks to all the more fashionable peeps out there who will hopefully help me with this!

Wedding Dress Dilemma!

A friend of mine who just got engaged needs our help. Here's the situation: this Ines di Santo Spring/Summer '06 dress she's madly in love with is completely sold out, everywhere. I have yet to be a bride, but I can imagine the horror of learning your dream dress is forever unavailable - sigh. There is one tiny morsel of hope; a distant friend wore the same wedding dress a couple years ago . . .

But the question is: Is it wrong to ask someone to borrow their wedding dress? My inkling is yes - what if they're not the same size and alterations need to be made? What about sheer sentimental value? - but I'm not totally up on wedding etiquette. What do you say?
