Lack of body or too much frizz: "Most people fall into one [category] or the other," explains hair guru John Frieda. The solution? "A product and a technique," he says. In the 1970s and 1980s, when Frieda first started out, the majority of the products available were just for body and volume. If you had any issues with frizziness, as 60 percent of women do, you couldn't turn to your favorite anti-frizz serum or cream to quell the problem, as those types of products just didn't exist quite the way they do today. At least there was disco, right? Frieda, along with stylist Harry Josh, recently spoke on the stubborn issue of frizz. When I was younger, I admired businesswoman Angela Bower on Who's the Boss?, aka "Yo Angeler" by her loving housekeeper, Tony Micelli. On the show, Angela was a successful advertising executive who preferred full-shouldered power suits, and almost always accessorized with oversize power earrings.

In a slick move, which I adored, Angela would promptly remove one of the earrings, and toss her feathered hairstyle back before picking up the phone. I'm sure the motion was done as to not interfere with her conversation, but it also probably helped keep that 1980s 'do in place, too. The current '80s fashion revival has led me to dig out my '80s brat pack movies and reminisce over classic scenes from Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club. The fashion in Pretty in Pink is particularly amazing, especially in the final scenes when Andie (Molly Ringwald) creates her own prom dress from two existing pieces. These days, my street isn't the only thing covered with pumpkins; so is my kitchen. I've been using the gourds in everything from moist pumpkin bread to chicken pumpkin stew, and so I decided it was high time I enjoyed it in ale form, too. Although it's believed early American icons like George Washington and Ben Franklin enjoyed pumpkin ales, one Bay Area craft brewhouse, Buffalo Bill's, brought the beer back into vogue when it became known for its special blend in the 1980s.The whisky-colored amber ale ($7.99 for six), which is brewed with fresh roasted pumpkins and malted barley, possesses only a delicate squash flavor, but has lingering pumpkin pie spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg that become more prominent as the beer warms. Because it doesn't have a malty flavor or the bitter taste of hops, Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin a great find for people who aren't that into traditional beer. What's your favorite Fall ale?

Nicole Richie's jewellery line has widely been a success with fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Like the Olsens before her, Nicole proved that celebrity fashion collections don't have to be trashy or demode. House of Harlow is adorably named after her daughter (will a Sparrow diffusion line follow?) and offers vintage style pieces for an affordable price.

She modeled the pieces herself for the look book showing how the items remain true to her own style. Nicole spoke to MyWardrobe about her inspiration, fashion memories and her second love.

Gossip Girl Spinoff About Lily: Love It or Leave It?

Here in the UK we've waited an age to get some Gossip Girl goodness in our lives again, and now it's all coming at once! Not only is the second series starting on ITV2 next week (9pm Wed. 21 Jan. to be precise), but the creators/executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have decided to go ahead with a spinoff.

The show will be a prequel to the series we know and love, and will be set in Los Angeles in the 80s, focussing on the wild teenage years of Kelly Rutherford's character, Lily van der Woodsen. Schwartz says he's "inspired by the opportunity to tell overlapping stories and introduce characters that will appear in the past and the present - and hopefully enrich both shows".
