Catwalk to Stage: Estelle's MTV EMA Dress

Last night Estelle took to the stage during Kanye West's performance at the MTV EMAs to sing American Boy. For the song she wore a striking blue Bernard Chandran dress from his Spring 2009 collection. The dress was bejewelled with exaggerated pointy hips. It was great to see so much support for young London based designers last night with Beyonce wearing Gareth Pugh and Estelle also wearing Ashish earlier in the evening. Estelle definitely made a statement in Chandran, what do you think?

2008 MTV EMAs: The Show & Winners

The big winners at last night's MTV Europe Music Awards were Britney Spears and Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds To Mars, each of them winning two awards. Hostess Katy Perry beat Duffy to take home the award for New Act, and the Brits were represented by Sir Paul McCartney and Rick Astley who each took home a gong. For the most part, the winners were American, and there was certainly a theme running through the evening as President-Elect Barack Obama's face showed up on everything from the video screens to one of Katy's twelve brightly coloured outfits!

The show was definitely dominated by Americans, which included performances from Pink, The Killers, Kid Rock, Kanye West (with Estelle) and Katy herself, what did you think - would you have preferred more European acts performing as Take That and The Ting Tings did? Or was the overriding American influence reflecting our tastes in music in Europe? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

2008 MTV EMAs: Here Come The Girls

The ladies looked lovely on the MTV Europe Music Awards red carpet last night, and my girls Fab UK and Bella UK were polling you on their looks as the show aired live on MTV! Beyonce performed at the ceremony, showing up in a short black mini dress and showing off a rather random shiny metallic glove. Hostess Katy Perry wore a handful of brightly coloured outfits throughout the evening, beginning her fashion show in this bright blue number with huge eyes printed on it.

Daisy Lowe was a smiley goth in her black dress and studded belt, whereas Estelle and Leona Lewis both went for pale shimmering numbers for their trip down the red carpet! Finally, those Sugababes showed off their British pride at the Liverpool venue in dresses of red, white and blue! Check out all the dresses in my gallery and let me know what you think!

As the hostess Katy Perry had a big closet full of colourful ensembles to choose from for last night's awards and boy did she make the most of it! She wore unusual pieces from the likes of Manish Arora, and Jean Charles de Castelbajac to bring life to the party. Most of you liked her red carpet look but what about the rest of her party dresses? She wore another JC de Castebajac dress this time emblazoned with Obama's face, a Katy jumpsuit, a Manish Arora carousel dress and a bright stripey dress. Which of her looks do you prefer?

Trend Alert: MTV Awards Very Berry Lips

At last night's 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards the stars showed their love for this season's bright lip trend. Berry shades ranging from dark to subtle reigned supreme. Duffy went for an lingonberry shade to complement her pale skin, while Pink's dark rasberry lipstick looked perfect with her dark eyes. Meanwhile, Daisy Lowe upped the ante with a deep black-current colour that looked glamorously gothic with her black nails and dark locks. Do you have a favorite berry lipstick?

2008 MTV EMAs: The Boys Go Hell For Leather

There were a lot of dapper men on the red carpet at last night's MTV Europe Music Awards. My favourite boys Take That performed and were interviewed at the spectacular show, and they all looked very handsome on the red carpet in their smart-casual black suits. Another of my adolescent crushes, Jared Leto, also played a big part in the show, hosting interviews in the VIP bar area wearing an Obama tee which matched those of his 30 Seconds To Mars bandmates.

Hostess Katy Perry's musician man Travis McCoy wore a heart badge and looked casual but oh-so-cool in his MTV-appropriate jeans and a leather jacket. The leather-look jacket combo was the most popular look of the evening with Travis, Gary Barlow, Craig David, Lemar, Kid Rock, Kelly Jones and Sway working the look! It's classic for a reason...

Darling Duffy arrived on the red-carpet with dark-rimmed eyes and deep rusty-mauve lipstick. Her skin looked smooth and creamy with a touch of peachy-bronzer on the apples of her cheeks for added warmth. I love how her hair was styled half-up, half-down in soft school-girl curls and smooth fringe. Overall, Duffy donned a polished and sophisticated beauty look. How do you feel about it?
