Yesterday I brought you news that NBC plans to provide us with 1,400 hours of coverage (plus 2,200 hours of online broadcasts) for the 2008 Olympics, but how much of it will interest you?
Are you one to obsessively tune in for any and all Olympics events, or do you just watch a few particular things? Or maybe you ignore the whole thing?

I'm kind of a sucker for the Olympics, but even I'm not sure I'm this much of a sucker: NBC has announced its plans for broadcasting the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, which start one year from today, and all told, the network plans to show 1,400 hours of coverage — plus another 2,200 hours of free online broadcasts.
NBC's cable networks will carry much of that load, with coverage planned for USA, MSNBC, CNBC and Telemundo. (No Bravo?

The Summer Olympics are officially underway, and one of our new favorite athletes, Michael Phelps, has already gotten things off to a fabulous start. The swimmer not only scored the gold medal in his first two events, but he also broke his own world record in the 400m IM on Sunday before helping team USA take first place in the nail-biting relay this morning. Most of you agree that he's not bad to look at, but we're thrilled to see that he's doing an awesome job of representing the USA, too.

Did you happen to catch NBC's broadcast of the opening ceremonies from the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing on Friday eve? What a sight it was! Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) were installed across the entire stadium (even the roof!) and a LED screen, measuring 147 meters long and 22 meters wide was placed in the center of the stadium.

The International Olympic Committee has already limited internet access for journalists covering the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China — which is bad enough — but now they are even imposing bans on professional camera equipment. The actual definition of "professional camera equipment" wasn't clearly defined on the official Olympics website, but many believe that this includes SLRs with big lenses (ones which would block views for spectators during the games).
Whatever the case, this isn't great news, considering you could take some amazing images with an SLR camera during the games.
