Michael Jackson was remembered in a huge memorial service at the LA Staples Center yesterday, featuring performances and words from friends, family and fans of the late King of Pop. Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, John Mayer and Usher were among those performing songs, while Brooke Shields, Motown founder Barry Gordy, the Rev. Al Sharpton and basketball stars Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant were among those that spoke of the man behind the legend.

Jay-Z had plenty of friends to help him get the NYE festivities started early at the grand opening of his new club 40/40 in Las Vegas last night. Beyonce and Solange both went for sparkles with surprisingly tame but still fun and flirty dresses. Jay managed to pull in crowds from all the worlds of entertainment, with Mary J.

Justin and his two business partners/friends Trace Ayala and Eytan Sugarman celebrated the opening of their new restaurant, Southern Hospitality, in NYC last night. JT was in his standard uniform from the fedora to the neck hair, but it's cool because his guests -- ranging from Al Sharpton to Lance Bass -- all kept it pretty casual. Jay-Z didn't walk the carpet, but made an appearance on the inside.

One of the most anticipated movies left this year, American Gangster had its big NYC premiere on Friday at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem. Denzel and Russell had their wives on their arms as they showed off their awesome looking collaboration. Also on the red carpet was Jay-Z, who was so very excited about the film that he decided to write a whole album inspired by it.
