Trend Alert: Black Eyeliner and Pink Lips Abound at the VMAs
Last night at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City, the most common makeup theme from the ladies on the red carpet was black, heavily lined eyes paired with pink lipstick. The eye style varied from dark and smoky on Kristin Cavallari to clean and winged on Madonna. Lips also came in a wide spectrum of shades ranging from candy floss pink on Solange Knowles to pinky-coral on Katy Perry.

Cassie kept it sassy at the VMAs by donning a plunging silk floral print minidress and killer metallic peep-toe booties. As if that weren't enough, the singer adorned her wrists with matching diamond cuffs, her ears with spunky earrings, and topped it all off with a bright yellow clutch. Is it too much or just right?

Back in July, we saw Cassie with etches on the shaved side of this disconnected haircut, but tonight she's keeping that side soft and smooth, letting the longer part stand out with a little curl and some rolled texture. While it might seem like she doesn't have a whole lot of options with this distinctive cut, as evidenced by tonight's look, she most certainly does. Someone give kudos to Cassie's stylist for creating two looks in one.

Sienna Miller accompanied Anna Wintour to a screening of new Vogue documentary The September Issue in New York yesterday evening. Sienna starred on September's cover of the American publication, and the documentary details all the work that goes into the biggest issue in the magazine's calendar year. My girl FabUK has the gossip on the stylish set that strutted down the red carpet last night, and guests at the screening included Diddy, Renee Zellweger, Cassie and our own Alexa Chung who, along with Sienna and Anna, upped the count of Brits at the stylish do!

As the end of the season approaches, you might expect wine-toned polishes, deeper hues of blue, or smoky taupes making an entrance. But with the warm weather still going strong, it looks like bright, fun colors haven't fallen by the wayside just yet. After catching a glimpse of Kim Kardashian wearing vivid, bubble-gum pink a few days ago, I was reminded of other ladies sporting some seriously pink nails in recent weeks.

Tough-girl style is on the rise, as evidenced by the small but growing number of women who are pounding their heads against a Wahl. Using clippers to shave half of their hair off, they're channeling a look that's equal parts Tank Girl, Vanilla Ice, and punk-rock scene queen Rihanna, who just lopped off half of her hair, leaving some volume up top. Before her, Cassie shaved some designs into her shorn hair.

Louis Vuitton threw a party in New York to celebrate the launch of the 40th anniversary of the lunar landing. Any reason to party, right? A handful of PYTs showed up, most of them wearing at least one piece from the house.

The undercut, a haircut where the sides and/or the back are shaven whilst the hair at the crown remains long isn't groundbreaking, however it certainly is bold! British model Alice Dellal has been sporting a half-shaven head for a couple of years and American singer Cassie has even designed zig-zags into her fade. I'm all for trying new things and think these women are brave and beautiful, but I'm curious to know what your thoughts are on the undercut?
