Bateman and Arnett Are Back, Animated and Still Developing

Jason Bateman and Will Arnett are back together on a new show, only we won't be seeing much of them at all. The animated show, Sit Down, Shut Up, based on an Australian program premieres this spring and reunites a whole lot of Arrested Development cast, writers and producers. Of course, talks at their TCA lunch immediately went to the AD movie - which is apparently Valkyrie meets Hotel for Dogs, hilarious. Jason Bateman and Will Arnett kept the whole room laughing trading jabs and with barely a serious sentence uttered. The rest of the cast, including Kristin Chenoweth, Cheri Oteri and Nick Kroll kept right up. If the show is anything like the panel, the fans will be happy. Here are a few highlights:

Jason Bateman on doing voice over work: "It frees up a lot of time for me. It takes about 45 minutes to snap this bad boy off. . . No, doing voice over work takes a lot of work - not a badger tail like Arnett, not a lick-n-stick. It is not easy for me. I keep anticipating a pink slip every time we do one of these things. I'm happy to be here, I don’t know how much longer I will be here. Not like Velvet Pipes here [at Arnett]."
Will Arnett: "It’s a different experience you’re in a room by yourself not with the other actors. Kind of doing it in a vacuum. You can read a scene all the way through and then you can go back and immediately run through it again and completely reinterpret the scene so its very freeing."
Nick Kroll: "Actually, we all work together it's just you who doesn't."
Will Arnett: "Is it fun?"
Nick Kroll: "We have a great time."

Costar Tom Kenny joked that Will and Jason have been "really good about autographs, we don't ask for them, they just sign stuff and give it to us" before the Development alums got into a lengthy discussion about why the show never caught on and how the Nielsen system didn't work in their favor at the time. Clearly still something they're thinking about, as are all the devotees who will get a special treat when this show hits the screen.

Frederick's of Hollywood Helps Undress Today's Stars

Last night many PYTs headed to the Frederick's of Hollywood fashion show to benefit the Clothes Off Our Backs Foundation in LA. Attendees included the Simpson sisters, an Olsen, High School Musical stars and Dita. Which of these things is not like the other? While Dita may standout in this crowd, she's also the one we associate most with sexy lingerie. Dita was just one of the many celebrity designers who created corsets to be auctioned off. Other guest designers included Christina Aguilera, Eva Longoria, Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson. Kristen Bell, who made her debut appearance on Heroes this week, was also there to support the good cause. Jessica Simpson was clearly having a blast with her Major Movie Star co-star Cheri Oteri. Oh how we've missed Jessica's fun facial expressions.

What Happens After SNL? Jim Breuer's Sitcom Will Tell You

Post-Saturday Night Live, some people go on and have a wildly successful career (Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler) . . . but plenty more just kind of seem to fade away. Sometimes the fade is inexplicable because the star was so popular while on the show (Chris Kattan, Cheri Oteri). I've always wondered what happens in that post show world, and a new show is about to divulge exactly that: Jim Breuer has just scored a deal with NBC for a sitcom that will focus on his life after his stint on SNL.

Breuer - whose goat character I liked but whose performance in Half Baked is really why I have a soft spot for him - apparently spent the years after the show raising his three daughters and taking care of his elderly parents. The show will focus on that, and the humor therein (a relief: I don't know how many sad goat-boy stand-ups I could take).

Would you watch this show? I'm intrigued, I admit. And note to Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson: buck up! Maybe one day NBC will have a sitcom deal for you too.

The Simpson Sisters Are Visions of Hollywood

The Simpsons tried out their best pouts on Saturday night for Brett Ratner's Visions of Hollywood party in LA. Don't Jessica and Ashlee look like the popular girls in high school ooor maybe the wasted girls (on Ash's part at least). Kinda hilarious to see them with Cheri Oteri, right? She costars with Jessica in Major Movie Star so I guess the ladies became friends. Ashlee's man Pete was spinning for the soirée while his lady helped herself to the libations. Both of the Simpson girls are looking great these days, especially Jess who just signed that $3 million deal to keep pimping Proactiv. Her sister is on the bandwagon, too, or she's vying for her own deal as she parlayed her Botox denial into a glowing recommendation for the product. What can I say, the ladies know how to shill.

For Jessica Happiness and Humor Is Definitely InStyle

Jessica Simpson got all done up and dressed down for the cover of November's InStyle. The interview inside was done in a pretty non-traditional fashion where instead of your standard Q & A, the magazine got Jessica's sister, best friends, and costars to send questions her way. Oh, and don't you worry, they got to the bottom of that fitness regime that is keeping her looking so bangin' these days. Check it all out (and some cute quotes from Jess) on Fit. Such a guilty celebrity gushfest, but I do love me some Jessica. Here are highlights:

From Ashlee - What's your fave thing about having a younger sister? Oh, that is funny. My favorite thing is that she is cooler than me. I go to my sister for advice all the time, mostly about guys, life, or how to deal with a fight with mom or dad. You'd think she was older. I had to go through life first, and she say the choices I made, good and bad. She can look at my life and be, like, "OK, I'm not going to do it this way." I might be a little more jaded, but it's exciting for me to see her making good choices.
From Rachel Leigh Cook - I've never seen you angry or in a bad mood. What is that like? I love that - that's so sweet! When I get angry, I get quiet. Very quiet. I can't really yell or scream at people. I either kill 'em with kindness or withdraw and figure it out within myself. Or I call my sister. But people who love me know when I'm angry, because I need to be by myself for a little bit. I'm not really a confrontational person. I should be, but I'm not.
From Cheri Oteri - True or false? When you were at the White House in 2004, you said to the secretary of the interior, "I love what you've done with the place." Very True. That was another Jessica moment. People just love it when I make an ass of myself, and I do it often. Of course, I now know what the secretary of the interior does. Trust me. Do you? If not, you'll have to look it up.

Ah, there's nothing quite like a classic Jessica moment, though to be fair a lot of people probably couldn't answer that last question. As for where buffalo wings come from? That's another story. At least she's got a sense of humor about herself to go with her happy attitude these days.

The Stars Shine Out on the Green For Shrek the Third

The whole Shrek cast hammed it up on the green carpet in LA this week for the premiere of Shrek 3. Cameron Diaz lightened up her hair and showed off those stems (got your attention, JT?) in an adorable pink mini. Justin was taking a break from his European tour to dress preppy and reminisce with his famous ex. Also it's nice to see Mike Myers back at work these days - with the money he makes off this franchise it's no wonder he can take such long breaks between films. Hopefully we'll see more of the entire cast making the rounds since the film opens May 18th. Anyone else curious to know if Eddie Murphy speaks up about his new possible Spice baby or if he will skip out on the promotions altogether?
