Jul 28 2009 - 2:00am A skinny Christian Bale walked around the set of
The Fighter yesterday in Boston. He's
lost weight for his role as a drug addicted boxer, which is quite the contrast to his
beefed-up costar Mark Wahlberg. Christian will have a reason to put the pounds back on if he reprises his role in the next Batman movie, which is apparently set to
start filming next year.

OMGGG CRAP, MAN!!!!!!
1I didn't even notice him.. woooow he looks extra skinnnnnny!!
The first time I saw CB was in "Little Women" and even then I preferred the much older but oh so attractive Gabriel Byrne. Now he looks just plain bad, I'm sorry to say.
2He looks so different!
3Wow, completely unrecognisable! Scary-looking.
4Yikes he has done this before, right? I think he might have deeper issues, I don;t know I just get this unstable feeling from him.
5Ahem, WHERE in Boston are they filming? I sure haven't noticed them here.
6OMG I think he goes crazy sometimes for his roles..
7He's done this before with the movie "The Machinist." Though, he was much smaller for that movie than he is here. He's definitely dedicated to his craft to gain/lose weight so much and so effectively.
8he definitely looks better with more muscle tone and i guess we'll see that in the next batman movie. it's nice to know that he's signed on to do it. it always bothers me when they keep changing the cast so frequently.
9I can't help but wonder how stressful it must be on his body to constantly be swinging from ultra-skinny like in the machinist - to buff for batman - really skinny for this movie - and then back to being buff in a year or so for batman again. That just can't be healthy.
10This's scary! Can't believe it's the same man.
11woow, too scary but I guess it's necessary
12They are actually not technically filming in Boston, they are in Lowell, MA, where Mickey Ward is from (I was there on the 15th to be an unpaid extra, and yeah, he is scary skinny, and looks even worse in person - now THAT'S dedication! *shudder*)
13Wow he looks awful.
14So scary looking
15OMG...EWWW!
16He looks beat, not only skinny, but looking sick.
17Yea well thats what you call a dedicated actor. Love him and I hope he takes care of himself. Looking forward to the next Batman and I hope hope hope Angie gets a part in it.
18
19Oh geez!
20This movie better be freakin' worth it!
21
:O
22He's dedicated, that's for sure.
I love how dedicated he is to his roles. And I have faith that he is smart enough to change his appearance so rapidly in a healthy and safe way.
23He only ate one apple a day to drop weight for the machinist, I assume he is doing something similar for this. Unfortunately, that is not healthy that is anorexic. I am not saying he is anorexic, but that his eating habits to get to this point replicate that. However, I am not sure there is a way to get that thin w/o doing that...
24I don't think he is that thin here. His legs and arms look OK. His face looks gaunt, but I think it's the makeup and hairstyle.
25Someone mentioned them changing the cast to batman so often.... they arnt changing, they ARE JUST RUMORS! "journalists" and bloggers just make sh*t up to sell their story.. most are about as real as santa clause.
26CFP-
27I think they are filming in Lynn or Revere
Holy crap!!! He looks absolutely terrible! That can't be healthy.
28he was more skinnier in "the machinist". Here,he looks alike what he acts:a crack-addict(thank to the make-up division also)!
29But wait to see the other pix with him and Dicky Ecklund:it's crazy as they looks alike!
i'll still take him any way i can
30Worryng, the director of this movie is a criminal, that's not healthy
31he takes his roles too seriously. he looks like a freakin crackhead.
32and i've seen crackheads look better than this.
33WERE YOU PEOPLE BORN JUST YESTERDAY???
IT'S CALLED MAKEUP AND BAGGY CLOTHES.....GET OVER YOURSELVES ALREADY.
34LoL...he's SUPPOSED to look like a crackhead, since that is what the character he is playing is...if he didn't look like one, people would complain that the movie wasn't realistic enough. Sheesh. I saw him in person on the 15th on set, and he looked pretty darn skinny next to Mark Wahlberg. I don't think it's necessarily healthy, but then again, I don't know him, or his nutritional habits.
35Actually he has lost weight for three roles, this movie, the Machinist and Rescue Dawn.
36seriously you guys haven't seen Machinist? this is probably make up effects. I take him anyway i can, as long as he's not on crack.
