Celebs Like to Shake It

At first, the Power Plate seems like another gimmicky weight-loss product, but its website features endorsements from fit celebs like Madonna, Courteney Cox, and Hilary Swank. On top of that, it's used by over 60 college and pro sports teams, and the Police brought one with them on their reunion tour. That's some serious ~~celeb~~ street cred.

The secret behind the Power Plate is its vibrating plates. The manufacturer claims that if you stand on it for 10 minutes a day, three times a week, you'll lose weight, tone your body, and improve bone density. To really maximize the benefits of the machine, it's encouraged that you do the same exercises you would do on the floor - sit-ups, for example - on the Power Plate.

Cougar Town actress Cox says the Power Plate was essential in shaping her up for her new role: "The Power Plate machine has dramatically changed my workout. I know that every muscle in my body is being ignited in ways that you can't do with traditional training."

They call the technology behind the machine Acceleration Training: the vibrations transmit energy waves to the body that are able to contract muscles 25 to 50 times per second. This is suppose to help stimulate blood flow, work the muscles harder than ever before, and increase strength and flexibility.

Vibration training is not a new thing in the fitness world (remember the black rubber belts that used to go around the waist to shake off fat?), but it's been picking up steam especially as it garners more backing from the medical community and health professionals.

Studies done on the effects of vibration training show that if used properly, it's more beneficial at building lean muscle mass, improving weight loss, and increasing strength and speed than exercise regimens without vibration training. Researchers warn that the machines should not be used for more than 30 minutes a day due to health concerns about engaging the body in high-amplitude vibrations like back pain or blurred vision.

I remain a little skeptical, mostly because I can't get the Shake Weights infomercial out of my head, but my curiosity is piqued. My gym doesn't have a Power Plate yet, does yours? I'd love to hear what you think of this new workout.

Reese Leads the Carpet of Champions For Avon

Lots of lovely ladies stepped out in NYC last night for the Avon Foundation's Champions Who Change Women's Lives benefit. Brand ambassador Reese Witherspoon was front and center on the carpet in a strapless number, joined by a fresh-from-LA Lauren Conrad in a fitted dress. Courteney Cox posed for photos alongside pal Fergie, though the Cougar Town star is set to have another friend, Lisa Kudrow, make a cameo on her show. Reese played host at the event that was held to honor those who fight against breast cancer and domestic violence, and the whole crowd was treated to a performance by Fergie and a special appearance from Patrick Dempsey.

Lauren, Courteney, Reese and Fergie Celebrate Champions

Lauren Conrad, Courteney Cox, Reese Witherspoon and Fergie attened Avon's Champions Who Change Women's Lives celebration at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. Reese hosted and Fergie performed at the benefit, which honours those who have fought breast cancer and domestic violence, while Patrick and Jillian Dempsey, Courteney and a darker haired Lauren were on presenting duties. Lauren has revealed she is dressing as a clown for Halloween, and Courteney has revealed her former Friends costar Lisa Kudrow will appear on Cougar Town as a dermatologist. It's great to see stars making time for such good causes.

Both ladies made it a bring-your-daughter-to-work day, with Coco Arquette tagging along with Courteney while Busy toted her young Birdie. Courteney stopped to chow down on a burger between takes, showing off a range of suits as she and Busy kept plugging away on the first season of their successful new show that you guys are loving.

Sexy Ladies Rock A Lot and Feed A Lot

It was all about the ladies at the Rock a Little, Feed a Lot benefit concert in LA last night. Joel and Benji Madden were among the performers for the star studded crowd. Courteney Cox and David Arquette came out to support their close friends Sheryl Crow and Ben Harper as well as present on stage to support the cause. Isla Fisher showed off her rocker side with a hot leather skirt while Mrs. Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan, unfortunately got a little carsick on her way to the party. Courteney's Friends costar Lisa Kudrow also attended amid the latest rumors of the cast reuniting, but at the moment the only official news of Court back among familiar faces is when she gets to work with David and Neve on Scream IV.

Do You Want to See a Friends Movie?

A Friends spinoff movie appears to be closer than ever after comments made over the weekend, by James Michael-Tyler who played Gunther in the hit show. He said, "Friends: The Movie is definitely on. I still keep in touch with a lot of the cast and they say that they are really keen." With the success of the Sex and the City movie, and the second one on its way, it must be tempting to the cast although as Lisa Kudrow pointed out, the shows had very different formats. Still, she says she remains open to the prospect of it, fifteen years later. I'd like to know if you would like to see Chandler, Joey, Ross, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe reunited on the big screen?
