Despite some moments that seem a little overwrought, this trailer for Crossing Over (not to be confused with the TV show about talking to dead people) is one of the most riveting previews I've seen in a while. It looks a bit like Crash (several storylines weaving together in various ways), but with the subject matter being illegal immigration (and what it means to be an American and what's right and what's wrong, etc. etc.).

I know what you might be thinking: "Kristen Stewart's hair is too wild for me to pull off." Not so! On the New Moon red carpet tonight, Kristen manages to turn this curly hairstyle, which could easily go more the route of high school-prom, into a funky 'do with plenty of edge.

In an act of charity (?!), Belgium social worker Mathilde Pelsers and her daughter, 19-year-old beauty queen Aline Duportail, organized the first-ever "Miss Homeless" Pageant.
The pageant, which took place over two months and included 10 homeless female contestants, was designed to raise awareness for the homeless population, and awarded the winner, 51-year-old Theresa Van Belle with a one-year, rent-free apartment stay — and the title of "Miss Homeless."
While the motivation for the contest seems well-intentioned, the pageantry itself seems a questionable show of support.

If mama gets one thing crossed off her to-do list in a single day, she's done a good job. Most mothers will admit it's near impossible to keep up with school schedules, the grocery list, car maintenance, birthday parties and everything else relegated to dear old mom. On last night's "The Trip" episode of The Middle, daughter Sue Heck sells enough cheese and sausage for her school's fundraiser to earn her a trip to Indianapolis.

For marathoners, crossing the finish line comes with battle scars — sore muscles, sunburn, sore nipples, and the impressive yet painful bruised toenails. Even though their feet are protected by socks and cushioned sneaks, the repetitive banging against the front of a runner's shoe causes bleeding under the nails, and can sometimes cause nails to just fall off. When these damaged nails do grow back, they don't adhere as well to the skin, becoming an ongoing problem for serial marathoners.
