Before being known to most as Natalie Portman's boyfriend, Devendra Banhart was famous in certain circles for turning out interesting neo-folk music and has been a mainstay in the independent music scene for a little while now.
His new video for his Spanish language song "Carmensita," has people talking partly because Ms. Portman's in it but also because some people aren't sure how awesome this cheeky swipe at Bollywood-style productions is.
Natalie and Devendra Are Still Sharing Their Smiles
Natalie Portman and Devendra Banhart were soaking up their time together around NYC on Thursday and Friday. These two just got back from a trip to Israel, but apparently didn't need a break from each other. Devendra has quite the quirky fashion sense, but a beaming Natalie on his arm is one accessory that can brighten up even the strangest of ensembles.

Natalie Portman and Devendra Banhart have traded one picturesque location for another. After having a romantic time in Cannes during the film festival, the jet-setting couple are now in Jaffa, Israel — and from the size of Devendra's shorts, it must be quite warm there. Devendra has been rocking some unconventional looks since we first saw him with Natalie, but we're sure she loves that her guy is unique.

This weekend saw more Cannes activity, including a fabulous Dolce & Gabbana party that saw familiar and new celebs to the Film Festival walking the swirly carpet to be photographed. Lindsay Lohan had reporters buzzing after showing up wearing a sparkler on her engagement finger, Rose McGowan had to accessorise with her large plastercast after she broke her leg, and the host duo showed up with Cannes birthday girl Naomi "Don't call me a supermodel" Campbell. Kate Hudson looked stunning in a white mini-dress and was apparently cosying up to her photographer-shy man Lance Armstrong all evening, Natalie Portman and her man Devendra Banhart also showed up, posing separately, but Devendra showed just how happy he was to be there by having a pre-party groove in front of photographers.Things Are Heating Up in Cannes With Lindsay and Kate
Dolce and Gabbana threw a party at Baoli, Port Canto during the Cannes Film Festival this weekend, and things must have gotten hotter because the dresses keep getting shorter. Lindsay Lohan looked spectacular in a short mini green dress and a beautiful sparkler on her finger. Hmmm, could it be a gift from one of her many suitors?
Natalie and Devendra Caught Frenching in France
Devendra Banhart jetted to France to join his lady love, Natalie Portman, at the Cannes Film Festival, this week. After working up an appetite by strolling around town with Natalie's puppy yesterday, the pair went out for a romantic meal — complete with frequent interruptions for kisses and hand holding. Natalie is set to be busy with her responsibilities as a member of the festival's jury and dolling herself up in lovely Lanvin, but hopefully she can fit in many more dinner dates with her man.
Natalie Takes Her Play Mates For a Walk
Natalie and Devendra went for another hand holding session on the streets of NYC on Thursday, and this time around they brought some company. We're not sure about Devendra's choice of headwear, but how cute is their little furry friend walking along behind the happy couple? Between this pup and her new man, Natalie's got quite a little posse to keep her company and lots of layers to keep her warm.
