For the sixth year in a row, Forbes has rounded up its list of the world's most powerful women. It measures influence by scoring each female leader on visibility (not to be mistaken for popularity) and the size of the organization or country these women lead. The top spot remains unchanged from the previous three years, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel sits at number one of 100 for leading the fourth largest economy in the world.

Forbes just released the annual list of the 100 most powerful celebrities in the world, with Angelina taking the crown. Last year's winner Oprah Winfrey is number two with Madonna and Beyonce Knowles at three and four. The rest of the top 10 are featured below.

Tom Cruise may be number one but Angelina graces the cover. Who knew Forbes was just like all the other tabloids trying to increase newsstand sales by plastering sexy Angie on the front? There is an interesting article on Angelina saving her image and basically going from sinner to saint.

Value is the name of the game these days, even in Hollywood where money seems to grow on trees. Forbes took a look at the actors who bring film studios the biggest return on investments, and the 10 best actors for their buck were narrowed from a list of the 100 of Hollywood's biggest stars.
Forbes added up each star's compensation on his last three films and the operating income on those films, and divided total-operating income by the star's total compensation to come up with each return on investment number.

Last month Forbes announced the 100 most powerful women in the world, and Fortune followed this month with its list of the most powerful women in business. There's definitely some crossover between the two lists; business and power often go hand in hand. What do you know about the most powerful women in business?

Forbes released its annual list of the world's 100 most powerful women this week. Taking the number one spot for the fourth year in a row is German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the leader of the world's fourth largest economy. Female CEOs and political leaders also made the list that included Melinda Gates (number 34), Hillary Clinton (number 36), and Michelle Obama (number 40).

Women aren't paid equally in the workplace just yet, but some positions bode better than others when it comes to making money. Using the US Department of Labor Women's Bureau 2008 analysis, Forbes ranked women's median weekly earnings to come up with the highest-paying jobs for women. The job that turned up as number one surprised the Forbes team; they didn't expect women pharmacists to top the list.

The wage situation across the US has been better in some cities than others. The Brookings Institute ranked the 100 largest metropolitan areas based on the rate of wage changes between the last three months of 2008 and first three months of 2009.
Most of the cities where wages fell are located in New York; the state is home to six of the 10 cities where wages have fallen the fastest this year.
