Angelina Tops Another Celebrity List

Angelina Jolie was looking fabulously happy in NYC while on her press tour for A Mighty Heart. The actress must be ecstatic that she has topped another celebrity list. While she was #2 on the PopSugar 100, she's #14 on the Forbes Celebrity 100. Brad was # 5 however; technically they were the highest actor and actress on the list. The top ten includes, Oprah, Tiger Woods, Madonna, Rolling Stones, Brad, Johnny Depp, Elton John, Tom Cruise, Jay-Z and Steven Spielberg. Click here to see the entire list.

Forbes Ranks the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World

For the sixth year in a row, Forbes has rounded up its list of the world's most powerful women. It measures influence by scoring each female leader on visibility (not to be mistaken for popularity) and the size of the organization or country these women lead. The top spot remains unchanged from the previous three years, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel sits at number one of 100 for leading the fourth largest economy in the world.

Notable American newcomers to the 2009 rankings include Michele Obama who debuted at number 40 (just ahead of Oprah Winfrey at 41 and Britain's Queen Elizabeth at 42); Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor at 54; Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius at 56; Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano at 51; and Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Mary Schapiro at 55. Tom Cruise may be number one but Angelina graces the cover. Who knew Forbes was just like all the other tabloids trying to increase newsstand sales by plastering sexy Angie on the front? Value is the name of the game these days, even in Hollywood where money seems to grow on trees. Forbes took a look at the actors who bring film studios the biggest return on investments, and the 10 best actors for their buck were narrowed from a list of the 100 of Hollywood's biggest stars.

Forbes added up each star's compensation on his last three films and the operating income on those films, and divided total-operating income by the star's total compensation to come up with each return on investment number. Do you know which actors offer the best bang for the buck?

Forbes released its annual list of the world's 100 most powerful women this week. Taking the number one spot for the fourth year in a row is German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the leader of the world's fourth largest economy. Female CEOs and political leaders also made the list that included Melinda Gates (number 34), Hillary Clinton (number 36), and Michelle Obama (number 40).

Of course, you don't have to be a conventionally powerful person to make a big impact. Of all the women I know, I'd say my wise and patient mother has had the most positive influence on my life. What about you? What woman has influenced your life the most?

Women aren't paid equally in the workplace just yet, but some positions bode better than others when it comes to making money. Using the US Department of Labor Women's Bureau 2008 analysis, Forbes ranked women's median weekly earnings to come up with the highest-paying jobs for women. The job that turned up as number one surprised the Forbes team; they didn't expect women pharmacists to top the list. See the 10 highest-paying jobs below.

Computer Scientists and System Analysts: Women's median yearly earnings: $56,264; percentage of men's earnings: 83.7 percent.
Speech-language Pathologists: Women's median yearly earnings: $58,448; percentage of men's earnings: 100 percent.
Human Resource Managers: Women's median yearly earnings: $59,124; percentage of men's earnings: 67.9 percent.
Management Analysts: Women's median yearly earnings: $59,228; percentage of men's earnings: 78 percent.
Physicians and Surgeons: Women's median yearly earnings: $63,960; percentage of men's earnings: 59.1 percent.

You can't judge a job by its salary, and it seems the reverse is also true. You might never guess that some workers are taking home such sizable paychecks, so Forbes came up with a fun list of the most surprising six-figure jobs in the U.S.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates was used to compile the list, and at least 10 percent of workers in each job must have earned more than $100,000 last year to make the cut. The 15 jobs Forbes deemed as surprisingly high-earners are below.

Where Wages Rose and Fell the Most This Year

The wage situation across the US has been better in some cities than others. The Brookings Institute ranked the 100 largest metropolitan areas based on the rate of wage changes between the last three months of 2008 and first three months of 2009.

Most of the cities where wages fell are located in New York; the state is home to six of the 10 cities where wages have fallen the fastest this year. The first five cities on each list are shown below. For the full list, visit Forbes.
